Got it. Not having real names on the forums gets me. Did you set the gains like our last e-mail? Based on this latest bit of information I would try a different RCA cable too if I were you if you are still having an issue.

I turned the gains down like you said, down to 36 I think and was very dissapointed with the output, I didn't get a chance to see if they kept going in protect though. I took the amps out soon after. I am building a new box and paneling it all off right now though so they aren't in. I ordered some KnuKnoceptz RCAs to see if it will help, also bought a few fans to cool them down.

I drove out to the show in SC to check on some wiring for a few customers as they were having problems making the amps work right strapped. They had the "-" terminals on each amp connected together on itself... not jumped between amps. On the phone I was asking, "So, the negatives are hooked together?" and what they did sounds the same in words... so of course I was pretty baffled on the phone until I saw it in person and realized what had happened. So... I re-wired them and no problems since! Initially they also were using RCA cables that weren't making a good connection (Memphis and Stinger) so that was the second part of the problem.

Two runs of 8 gauge is optimal but you should be okay with two runs of 10 gauge if it's a short distance.

This seems to be a common problem so it's not just you. I hooked up the wiring on a pair and snapped some actual photos to help you out:

The master amplifier gets the input from the head-unit and a mono RCA from "BR Out" connected.

The slave amplifier ONLY gets "BR In" connected from the master.

ALL controls are handled on the master, setting anything on the slave is not necessary.

I was just wondering what brand of rca cable you used to connect the two amps. I'm having a hard time finding a decent quality mono rca cable in shorter lengths(3ft or less). Thanks for your help!

That one is about 3 feet, actually. It is esoteric audio:

They come in pairs, but L and R are separate cables entirely so you can split them up and use them as mono

If all else fails... the CHEAPEST RCA cables that you can possibly buy always work. I've heard of problems with several more expensive brands, namely Stinger and Memphis so far, but never with bottom line RCAs.

I have used this specific model... it is even very short at only 20 inches. Tear it down the center and you have two mono strapping cables! I may even start including one of those with each mono class-D amplifier... I just e-mailed Parts Express about buying a ton of them to put in the boxes.

another option might be knukonceptz klarity cable if u going to tear down....

and also, jacob sent knu a message concerning the ? of using home audio digital coaxial cable as a mono signal rca, he response was it was actually better but overkill, only diff is digital coaxial uses a solid core conductor, and more shielding.

I can't figure out, from the manual, how to wire a single DVC 4ohm to the 1000D? Can someone help?

I got a question, isn't the 1000D supposed to take 1/0ga wire? It looks like my connections are only 4ga, so would it be safe to trim some wire to make the 1/0 fit?

There is a mis-print regarding power wire size on the SAE-1000D. It accepts 4 gauge wire. I have it updated on the site, but on the print materials it still says 1/0 by mistake.

So yes, you can trim wire to make it fit no problem.
