MLI-65 in on backdeck

Recommended Posts

Greets all.

I am considering options for an impending install (my first) in my 2002 Nissan Sentra. My goal is a simple, yet good sounding front stage with simple and space saving low frequencies. Specifically, I'll be listening to a set of the $75 Cadence components up front and a yet to be determined sub system driven by a Cadence TXA6004 4-channel amp. Looking at the specs for the MLI-65, it would seem that they might work well in an infinite baffle alignment in the 6 1/2" holes on the back deck(parcel shelf?). I need all my trunk space for work and don't want to get into building a custom fiberglass enclosure. I am not looking for molar loosening bass, just some low frequency fill. I listen to a lot of metal, jazz, techno, and rock.

What do ya'll think?

TIA

I think if you run them in a bandpass range rom 40-50hz to 80-120hz they'd do pretty decent.

You shouldn't need more than ~50 watts RMS a piece to get them into overexcursion with that setup.

I'd recommend running 4 of them if possible. Your can get your fronts to help out with bass a little bit too.

Why not mount a true sub IB? A Maw-10 would smoke the mli's in output.

Try an MLi in each door and I bet you'll find you won't need a sub at all.

Thanks for the replies.

I've decided work be damned, they're lucky I am willing to use my car anyway! I'm going to go with a "real" sub; not sure which yet. My plan is to build a carpeted sidewall-to-sidewall wall with half going to a sub box and the other for the amp, both on the back side (stealth).

I figure that if I do a good enough job blending contours, it'll look like "hey, this has been the size of my trunk all along". Kinda fool myself. lol
