Team Hybrids/Doitor's Mazda CX-7

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

Want to share with you some pictures of my car.

This is my 2007 Mazda CX-7 that I'm building to compete in USACi SQ shows in Mexico and the USA.

I'm part of Team Hybrids, the competition branch of Hybrid Audio Technologies founded by Scott Buwalda that sells some of the best speakers in the world.

This is my CX-7.

The Head Unit is an Alpine W205.

The music travels to the back via a fiber optic cable and also via Ai-Net cable, where it's processed in an Alpine H701, and sent to five JL Audio amplifiers hidden under a false floor.

The front stage is handled by a HAT Legatia L831-3 set. The L8's are on the doors, the L3's on the kick panels and the L1's on the a pillars, all hidden with speaker cloth.

Thanks Dave.

The kickpanels are covered in the same cloth as the apillars.

From the drivers seat you can't see any speakers.

Sorry for the bad pictures.

Not sure how Jorge sets his up, but there are 8 outputs on the 701 and the way I did it last year:

Front1 (left and right) = Tweeters

Front2 (left and right) = Midrange

Rear (left and right) = Midbass

Sub = Sub

Center = Sub (there is an option in the menu to use the center channel as a sub)

Does that help?

Just like Mr. brooks said the back is very clean....I love a clean install and I second that HAT drivers are some of, if not the best, drivers I have heard.

We tried the L3's in the kick and found them to be better off on the dahs of the SSA Camry.

How do they image down in the kicks vs the dash?

Immensely.

Helps me with my planning stage. Which is half the battle.

Nice setup! I am getting a ute of some kind and have similar plans to yours, other than there are no comps up here so it will be for me only.

Thanks for your comments, Dave.

I liked the L3's more in the pillars. Maybe it's because it's a SUV and the seat is kind of tall.

Had the totally off axis.

I'm making a LOT of changes to the front stage.

Have all the parts and speakers needed, just have to find the time.

Jorge.

That's exactly how I did it.
