Car audio amp on 120v AC?

Recommended Posts

I know this may sound kind of odd, but is there any way that i can run a car amp out of my room wall socket? I was thinking maybe something like a 12v DC adapter from some random thing, but i don't want to fry my amp. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance,

Mike B.

With a DC power supply, but the power supply will cost as much as the amplifier.

Ok, just wondering. I was being competely retarded that day that my sub came and hooked it up to my little Phillips Hi-Fi system... POP! No more music in my room. Since I have a little rockford waiting to be installed, i though that maybe in cound run it off of some old charger/transformer thing because we have like 50 of em' in a box in the basement. But oh well. Thanks anyway.

I've run a car amp off a car battery charger before. You'll only be able to get about 10 amps, but it will be suprisingly loud. Best advice would be to use a car battery for testing.
