hey guys i have 2 12 L7's being powered by a Eclispe DA7232. All was fine up until a few weeks ago when i noticed that the amp occasionaly shuts off after a few mins of play. all the wires are fine and the other amp works fine.... i was thinking maybe it might be seeing low ohms but the amp is not even warm...any ideas?....thanks guys

not familiar with that amp but does it go in to protect? does it just turn off for a second or shut off completely?

Can you check the ohm load that the amp is seeing with a DMM? Just because the amp isn't getting warm, doesn't mean that the load is optimal.

Can also try playing it at lower volume it stays on at, and see if it gets hot after 20-30min (too much current).....or does it do it at any volume? They can shut down before they get the sink warm if the protection circuit senses voltage out of range, it takes a little bit of time to warm the sink and with a short/etc it can cook the chips before the sink gets hot. There are other things that can happen that might not heat it up anyway.

ill hook it up to a meter tomorow, i dont have one here with me. but im not sure if its a low ohm load....sometimes it will play for a while, sometimes it will turn off after playing for only a couple of mins, regradless of if im playing it loud or low. sometimes all i have to do is turn the radio off for a second, turn it back on and the amp works fine. sometimes it wont turn on at all. also i am diasy chaining ( i know, hopefully this week if im kepting the amp ill finish the second remote wire) the remote wire off from the eclispe amp to my zapco amp, when the eclipse amp shuts down the zapco still works fine. so i am thinking this eliminates the head unit being the problem, the power light goes off but the red protection light does not come on...i am thnking that this is not a simple problem and my $1000 amp is bad :(
