Q 12" in a QLogic Enclosure?

Recommended Posts

So I am planning on eventually purchasing a fi Q 12", and I really don't know jack about building boxes. So I was wondering how a 12" Q would handle in a sealed QLogic box. BTW it will be going in my 01 civic coupe's trunk if that helps. Maybe this one?

All help is greatly appreciated!

That would work fine for a Sealed 12" Q. Fi recommends .8-1.5^3ft for a sealed box, so you're right inbetween.

I could also use some help on this too...what about a FI BL 12" loaded? will this speaker work in a q-logic box? I have seen them at "best buy" i will for now be using RF 1ooow/rms amp in the trunk of 06 ford focus zx4......G

The BL is really meant to be put in a ported enclosure, and for that I wouldn't use a pre-fab.

Sealed, it's a little different, though still not ideal...

You can, my point was that that's not really the best thing to do.

Another thing, which should I get, 1ohm or 2ohm. I was planning on getting a 2ohm but I'm not sure the advantages of both. Someone care to explain?

Thanks

It will depend on your amplifier.

That Alpine will work fine.

Even tho, I personally like the Sundown better.

Also, if your looking to buy the Sundown amp, the SSA shop would be the perfect place to do that.

I have owned an alpine amp before. The 650 one that puts out 600w. Not gonna lie, i wouldnt buy that amp again. Whether it was my install (which an audio shop did), it seemed like that amp wasn't giving out a "true" 600 watts. I like Kickers amps a lot and I plan on hooking up a zx750.1 to a Fi SSD 15 in the next couple months. Consider Kicker, they are known for power and they are relatively inexpensive.

How much do you plan to spend on the amplifier? The Alpines Link you gave us says $450? You can pick up a Sundown SAE-1000D from the SSA shop for $400. If you are interested, the SSA shop also offers a bundle with the SAE-1000D with an Icon 12" for around 500.

The bundle would be cheaper than the Q and the Alpine amp by lots with similar performance. Just my two cents.
