The color works great with the sexy copper phase plug. Nice choice on first albums to play as well :)

Have you noticed how on axis the response is? That was my only issue with the FR125's.

I was skeptical about the wood butthole you made, but when you put the speaker in there....OMFG sexy. Looks real nice bud.

Hopefully soon I will have some pics to share of the speakers we are making for my 'rents. :)

Well done. As mentioned, the black and oak finish looks stellar.

Play around with placement a bit and see what you notice. Good to hear you're enjoying them so far.

Man, I need to find someone locally that has built a pair of these. Might be a new, less expensive, build until I can afford the line array. These look incredible. Great job!

I felt I should indulge in a little more extensive review...

the BIB's are amazing. I am very surprised that ANeonRider felt they lacked subtly in the high end of the spectrum because i feel that I would never need anything more. Evanesance - My Immortal was practically a religious experience with the violin melody in the background, and I also listened to bands such as Mika and Paramore and have grown a particular liking for the bands. These things were worth every penny, right now I'm listening at just above 1/4 volume with the gains slightly over 1/2, In other words these bad boys can get loud. :slayer:

When demoing in my house (high catherdral ceilings) it seemed that the speakers were reaching there mechanical limits with 3/4 volume and just over half gains. I don't remember the exact RMS rating for the speakers but that seems right to me.

What I also was right about is the mid-bass/bass response is much better in the dorm. I have never had a set of speakers that satisfied me so well in a volume under "jammin". So I would say an average ceiling. would be recommended for this setup. Any bigger and you will probably need a larger woofer/BIB (which isn't a bad thing at all IMO :))

Was rereading this and noticed I never really answered this question so i figured I'd bring this from the dead. But yes, the FR125's are a very on axis driver. Sitting directly in the center of my couch really increases the overall response of the driver. On axis you have a much more crisp high end and definitely more midrange response.
