I want a sub to have loud bass but still sound good.(be heard a block away , hurt to turn it up loud ) Also are there any good pre fab enclosures for sale that are good ( i heard pre fabs suck) ? would you go ported or sealed? and i need an amp to push either the 12 or 15. budget on amp is around 100 new or used.

For the MAW-15? Your amp budget is quite low. I doubt you'll find anything for $100. Ported box preferably.

And no, there are no good prefabricated boxes.

If you want it to hurt, the only way you're gonna do that for cheap is if you get a MJ18. But you won't be able to fit that into most cars.

Otherwise, a MAW15 in a big ported box (say 4cf) tuned to 35hz with at least 40sqin of port area should do it for you.

Start with what the Mach5 site suggests for the MAW-15, and if it is not what you want, go a little larger for more effiency.

Ok im getting the 15. What about an amp. i will go used. up to 125 tops. Where can i get an enclosure too that will be good?

I would check around for a kicker ZX 300.1 or PG RSD 300.1.

Id say if you're worried about keeping to a budget

spend some time on learning how to make a box and buy the materials for that

and then up your amp budget or just save some cash

I do not have the tools or do not know how to build a ported enclosure. will any one send me plans for a 15" ported enclosure?

and the zx300.1 amp is only 300 rms . the sub is 500 rms. i was told the amp is underrated by about 75 watts shouldnt i get an amp with atleast 450 rms?

Both the PG and Kicker will do more then ratted if installed correctly. Also, as I have said on a bunch of other sites, there is no law that you have to have rms wattage on a sub woofer.

You can pick up a ZX400.1 used for 100-125 easy. Mine does 476W at 2. That will be the best budget amp you can get in that price range unless you get real lucky on another deal

I found some factory refurbished Orion WCC 8001's for sale on fleabay for $80.95 shipped. Cheap enough for 400 watts @ 2 ohms. The appearance is a crapshoot, but they claim factory refurb'd with a 6 month warranty.

I sold a 900wrms kenwood class D a while back for ~100, it was nice and they are on there all the time. I only had a 400wrms sub handy to test and had no problem maxing that out but did not want to trash sub. Sounded nice. There are other good amps in that range if you have that budget, and many amps that are not built as well. Just a suggestion as they seem to be overlooked. Around 1kw rms with a brand name for ~100 is not a bad deal I didn't think, it sat here and ended up I had no use for it. IMO a larger amp will work better long as you don't over drive your sub or clip it....if you do that then get a smaller amp and save yourself the destruction.

I have a kicker in my car, it runs my 4 12s great but changing setup soon.
