Fi BTLs for SQ?!?!

Im really attracted to how loud this sub can get...but ive heard it an have some pretty imprssive SQ...qualities...i know about the BL Q and SSD but those just dont seem like they will get loud enough for me...so...BTL 12s in a big ass sealed box...think it might work?

The word SQ and BTL don't go together, unless you think a fart is a nice sounding noise. Anyways, I don't think they are meant to, be put in a sealed box but, go try it see how it sounds.

yea, the specs call for a ported box, but everyone wants everything in a ported box box...not i said the cat...but yea...im most def. gunna try...and if it doesnt work out. folks can start putting in preliminary bids on a set of BTLs lol or a trade for some BLs or Qs 12s only...i hate the way 15s sound in a car, SQ is near imposible...

I think you're setting things up wrong if you think that...

If "getting loud enough for you" is anywhere near a priority, then you're not talking about SQ at all, really.

well, when i set up a system its the whole shabang, mids, highs the works...so yea, i want my bass to be loud to suppliment my rambunctious mids and obnoxious highs...but i dont want it soundin like those guys that have fart boxes ridin around town thinkin theyre hot chit trying to play music...i want the full range of bass...loud lol...kinda get where im comin from now?

then why dont you try the bls or qs first? If a woofers specs make it so it wont sound good in a certain type of box then it wont sound good in that box type no matter what. Hey where do you live btw?

i live in the Sacramento area...NOR*CAL...and like i said...if i cant make the BTLs fit my expectations...ill get another car and build a SPL enclosure and compete lol...changed my mind about sellin them...but then ill pick up some BLs...im not ready to go as soft as the Qs. maybe when i get older...but i doubt it lol...but i will definitely not be in a rollin fart box with random music squeeks tossed in...

ya i went with 2 05 RE XXX 15s.... Im only running one sealed right now and its actually satisfied pretty much all my goals

Not at all what this poster wants. He just wants loud. I would guess that the OP coudn't tell the difference between 40hz and 60hz and will be fine with a one note wonder.

Just get the damn BTL's, port them, and continue to pretend they have good SQ and be happy.

yeah i wanna know who the hell told this guy that the BTLS are perfect for SQ!!!!! and secondly.. when the specs for a sub call for a ported box why would you think you know whats better for the sub the men who make them//??????? and its plain to see that you dont know all about the BL SSD A Q. other wise you would know that one of the otehr subs is what you need..... infact it sounds like you need the Q's..... and it makes my head spin when you say you want 2 BTLS in a HIGE sealed box,.. but you dont wanna make your trunk fart...... you put BTLS in a car.. you better know that your car WILL rattel and BTLs are not a fancy jensen sub. you need a true 2000 watts PER sub... with 2000 watts on each BTL there is NO WAY around it.

why do you THINK you need BTLs... and im guess your a music kinda guy.... u listen to rap??? cause if so there is no sounds to make quality.

Just get the damn BTL's, port them, and continue to pretend they have good SQ and be happy.

actually its exactly what i want and yes i do konw the difference between a high note and a low note...but thanks for the checkup i guess...

and the manufacturer calls for a ported box on the assumption the buyer wants an spl sub...and i know for a fact no one has ever put every sub theyve had in a manuf. sugg. box...if they did, there would be no such thing as a custom enclosure, or am i mistakin when thinkin a custom box is fabricated to meet the unique 'custom' desires of the buyer ...who knows...but theres alot of doubt in this and i love provin folks wrong so maybe i will maybe i wont lol...who knows...

and as far as a fart box goes...i was under the impression that the fart/burp was the sound that is generated from the sub in a db drag...not that it refered to the trunk rattle...i could care less if my trunk rattles i mean hell its gunna have 4000kw throwin sound right at it, as long as it sounds good in my car, im fine.

and i listen to southern rap which hits alot of pitches despite popular belief, rock, a lotta country, neo soul and r&b...pretty ecclectic in my music choices...

No offence bro but the BTL is an spl sub. you can throw it in whatever ported sealed, bandpass, ib, t-line doesnt matter the sub is an spl sub. The original purpose for it was comps but scott being a smart man realized that alot of his sales were going to bass heads not competitors and slightly changed the options where it can be more reliable for a daily car. Unfortunatly ive never herd the BTL but ive herd its sister woofer the MT. Ive herd it in ported boxes all the way from 45hz down to 30 and it sounds bad. Loud as no other but chitty sq. Im not talking about rattles at all im talkign about the sound the sub makes

would you put a 12 in a sealed box to enhance sq and then put the same sub in a ported box to enhance spl? because thats what the enclosures do...just makin sure were on the same logic trail.

In regards to you not paying attention to manufactures' recommendations i suggest that you treat us differently...our rec's will preform the best in a daily driving scenario.

If your dead set on having a sealed box, look into the Q series.

Umm, no. You don't understand the term SQ otherwise you wouldn't be using it in this context. If you think I am wrong perhaps you could explain your magical front stage that is going to blend well with a high powered BTL in a ported box. By SQ you mean, doesn't sound like ass not SQ.
