Question about distortion/volume

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, newbie member here.

I was told to look into Sundown subwoofers by people that actually know what they're talking about in car audio - they said these things are good stuff. Value priced and high quality, and from what I hear the manufacturer is a real solid guy.

My question is, how loud and clear are these things? I need some low end for the Polk Momo system I have in my Buick LeSabre, and after shopping around speaker brands I decided this was the way to go. But I don't want anything obnoxious, and I don't want anything that is going to require a huge box and big, conspicious amp. My big thing is keeping a clean, stock(ish) look with this system. That will be the job of the installer mostly, but just to give you an idea that size is an issue here.

So, keeping in mind I don't want my car to rattle, I don't want to feel like someone is punching me in the back, I don't want my component speakers overpowered, and I don't want to 'thump and boom, dawg', what kind of speaker would do as far as Sundowns go? I just want enough to provide a clean low end to my music - I was thinking maybe 1 10" would be enough, but I'm not sure. Also, I noticed there are two different types of Sundowns, what kind of differences are there in performance? Advice? Suggestions? Tell me to sell my car, buy a Civic, and throw 4 15"s in the trunk? :puzzled:

umm i dont think anyone here would tell you to sell your car and get a honda. and try to put 4 15's in it. there are some good SQ guys here, just wait and thay will come... but i would change the topic cause that ughed me,

no one likes that question of HOW LOUD WOULD IT BE.

BUT YOUR QUESTION IS VALID

SUNDOWN MAKES GREAT PRODUCT BY THE WAY

The sundown subs are nice try (2) sd1v.2 10" subs . they work well in smaller spaces if that is your concern. If you need an amp try a sae1000d on them.

The SD-1 v.2 is an excellent choice for a good, clean, "low" powered system. They sound fantastic.

I said they would be fun. Not that he had to use those. Just cause he stated, he didnt want anything loud, doesn't mean he didn't wanna know about em?

Seems he asked about Sundowns woofers.
