MAW 12

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if I could get the specs on the MAW12.

What ft^3 do they like ?

What would be a nice daily tune? Port area? Port width?

PVC or slot port?

I plan on putting this in the trunk of my Prizm... sealing off the trunk, folding down the rear seat and firing the sub in to the cabin.

Should the port fire into the cabin also?

I'm working with a height of 14" and roughly a width of 28".

Also what amp would you suggest for this set up?

I was looking at the Hifonics TXi 4006, but to be honest this I still dont fully understand all the varibles that go into audio.

TIA

:)

Recommended Box Sizes

Sealed: 29 litres (1 cu. ft.)

Ported: 51 litres (1.8 cu. ft.) 28Hz tuning

You'll have to play with box positioning in your car to see what sounds best to YOU. It might sound differently better or worse to one of us. But you're the one driving it around everyday.

As far as an amp goes.. you need at the most 500w. And you haven't given a budget.. so...

I'd try some of these options \/

Alpine PDX-1.600

Kenwood KAC-8103D

Kicker 06ZX400.1

Rockford Fosgate T500-1BD

Rockford Fosgate P600.1BD

Thanks for the reply.

I have seen those Mach 5 specs before, but wondered if people have found a better mixture of ft^3 and hz :)

As far as budget goes, I would like to spend in the neighborhood of $150...

Which is why I was looking at Hifonics...

Would any of these work???

I would take the Infinity before I touched the Hifonics.

Why do you say that?

From what I have read, Hifonics makes nice amps.

I wouldn't call them nice. Cheap crap if you ask me.

Judging from my model of the MAW12 in 1.4cf @ 33hz: http://img151.imageshack.us/my.php?image=m...cfat32hzov7.gif

I'd recommend going a bit bigger, say 1.6-2.0cf and tuning between 30-35hz, depending on what kind of bass you're looking for.

I'd also recommend sticking to AT LEAST the 25sqin of port area that we used in that smaller box, and preferably increasing on that as well.
