SAZ 1500d with a TC 3000 15

Recommended Posts

All I can say is wow. No exclamation points. No Caps. They would not do it justice. I have no numbers regarding SPL as am not sure where I would go nearby. I have not swapped out the interior speakers yet but did hook all of the factory speakers to a RF 500a2. I ran a positive and negative cable run of 1/0 Knuconceptz Kolossus cable. As temp power I ran two 4 gauge cables to the positive of the amp and a 1/0 ground. Alpine cda 9884 cd receiver and the Alpine RUX-C701/PXA-H701 controller processor combo.

The sub is in a ported enclosure kinda on the large side. 3.6 cubic feet tuned to between 35-40 hertz. Not quite sure as I need to do a little more to finish the box and will know the exact volume then.

The amp controls the sub flawlessly. It hits hard and fast. Double kick is defined and my sons rap is eye opening. made me sneeze.

I still need to put in the rest of the speakers and amps and most likely a seconds battery.

I guess I want to extend thanks to Jacob for an excellent product at a fantastic price.

Another positive experience from a satisfied buyer of Sundown audio.

Sorry. No pics as of yet. At least none showing box with amps etc. Nothing is mounted yet. I work under the constraints that my wife provides. It's like this: I travel all week for my job and do the installation at my work because they have everything I could ever need and it's a constant 70 degrees in the shop. So on Sunday after noon...

"Baby, I want to go work on the system."

"OK. It's noon be back by five."

This is just what I have been wanting to hear. I also have a TC 3000 15 DVC 2. I have been looking for a new amp and the

SAZ 1500d was at the top of my list. how do you like the sub ported? I have mine in a 3 ft^3 sealed enclosure powered off a

phoenix gold tantrum 1200.1. the enclosure sits between my front seats facing the rear. I love the sub it hits the lows with

athoritity but also blends well with rock.

I am thinking of building a 3ft^3 vented enclosure tuned to 30 hz

(now I just need to save some money....hehe)

Thanks again

Chad

Chad,

I used WinISD to model several boxes. I am going to make a 1.75 cubic ft sealed and give it a 2db bump at 31.5 htz with the parametric eq function of the H701. Of course it doesn't have the output of the ported but the space savings will or rather should make my wife happy though unlikely (she is a woman and they come out of the box unhappy).

Mine sits in the trunk so port noise is not an issue. In a truck it may be a different story. God they are a sexy speaker. I wish TC was still...... reliable to purchase from. As you know the speaker is a beast. And the sound out of the ported box is awe inspiring from a single speaker set up for music.

I bet you sealed box is just bad assed as it goes so low!

glad to hear everyone is happy with that sub, I got 2 on the way!!!!

and sundown makes the best....

here is and old link to the old TC site, with box specs....I like the passive tuned @ 10Hz!!! hehe

http://web.archive.org/web/20070224172836/....com/tc3000.htm

seems like 3.6 cubes tuned @32Hz is working for a lot of people...

I'm just curious... I bet they can handle a lot more than, 1500rms. They are identical to the new; TC AXIS subs, which are rated for 2500rms....?

hhmmm... I feel the need for another 2500D. :lildevil:

Glad you could find a couple of them. 2500d???

As for more power, I only have an 80 amp alt, and stock battery. I still need to add the orion 900.2 on my midbass and the rf 200a4 on the tweets. the 500a2 is going to drive the midranges. Yes I know a strange mix of amps but I already had them collecting dust in the closet. But I figure I will add a batcap800 to help supplement the power delivery.

I thought about passive but waited to long and was unable to order from TC. Audiopulse has them, but way to pricey for me if they even have them in stock. Plus, as sad as it makes me, I would wait a while to order to see if they stay solvent.

I went a little higher than 32 hz cause it yielded me a little more efficiency and since most music is above 35 hz it didn't matter to me. but I did model that particular box.

Booom.

By 2500D, I mean Orion... sorry, too cheap for sundowns, maybe i'll upgrade to them later...

but I think the nice shinny titanium cones of the TC3K's match nicely with a silver orion 2500d...

I use a orion 8004 to drive my mids; two sets MB Quart, QSD-216's...it rocks. :drink40:

and passive, being a box design. look up toxic bass enclosures or hexibase.com

its a "column loading" technique that puts up impressive #'s...
