Q: Minimum Amount of Watts to Feed A 12" Q

Recommended Posts

What is the lowest amount of watts to feed a 12" Fi Q and still get decent/good performance? I'm shopping for an amp and want to see what my options are.

When I auditioned one, all it needed was a little under a kW to get where I wanted it.

In an IB situation, you could probably use even less.

I had 500rms to mine for a little while, then put 1500rms(Sundown 1500D) on it.

IMO, 500rms is the least I would put to the sub.

But the change in sound from 500 to 1500rms is greatly. Lowend came out a lot, sounded cleaner, and more detailed.

well first i had an ed nine.1 on it and it sounded like poo. Then I borrowed my friend's Diamond Audio D3600.1 and it sounded clean and it was only giving out 400w@2ohm. Thanks for the feedback. I'll be looking at something more around 1000w.
