$400

Recommended Posts

today i went to my local car audio shop to see how much theywould charge me to build me a simple port box for my fi bl 18. i told them i want 7cu .ft box tune to 32 hz and sub up and port to the back. they told me i couldnt fit a box that big in a 1991 ford explorer. they told me i should move my box closer to the front and then they showed me pics of a fake wall they did. it looks good but should i pay $400 for a wall but the box and port is all done with the wall?

I don't have a lot of experience with Explorers, but you're telling me you can't fit a 7 cubic foot enclosure in the back?

I have no idea what you're talking about with a "fake wall", either...link to an example?

Post up some dimensions in the back of that explorer, and I will create a box design they can build.

$400 for a box/fake wall is not a bad price, if you actually want a wall. . .

What were they goign to charge to just build a box?

Where are you located?

the room i have in my explorer is 39Wx39D 14.5 H but i could do 18H. i think a wall would be kool with one 18 but then i really want to compete with year in nspl. i live in nc but close to tn. $400 was for the box and the wall. i'll try to find pics of the wall i was talking bout

You could try either one of these. Did this quick. . I better go back and double check my math and calculations. . .

Double the top (1.5"), 3/4" all other walls.

Port opening is 28 x 3.5 in both cases. top picture the sub and port are both up. bottom picture is sub up, port rear.

i think a wall with 1 18" is kind of pointless...

it will raise your res Freq of your interior

how much power are you using on this 18" ???

and i think for 400.oo are they going to use Vasaline ? and kiss you after they f-u ???

build it your self and take pride in kicking everyons @ss :slayer:

dude...

you have way more than 7 cubes there...

go to Re audio site, and plug in your #'s till it matches the tunning and ect. that you need, and it spits out all the plate sizes you need... then get to work.

hell you could buy the saw and wood, and still be under $400.... lol.
