Looking for a sub

Recommended Posts

I have an 2001 Cadillac Deville. I have a Rockford Fosgate T4001bd and am looking for subs. I have been really looking at the Fi Btl's and the RE MT's but not exactly sure what size i can get do to box size would really like to 18 as im trying to be as loud as possible and have heard good things about the 18" fi subs but not sure if the box would have tto be too big after looking at some oof meades builds but maybe some of you who have installed some setups like this could help. So i figured i would come here for advice.

You'd have to get a fully loaded BTL to stand up to that amp without damaging it.

I would also go with a Dual 1 ohm woofer and wire it to 2 ohms so you only send 3000w to the thing.

Here is a question. Do you have the electrical system to power that monster? It will do a ton of power, but they need some serious current to do it. If not, it would be wise to put the money there first, and in the mean time run it at 4ohms instead of 1ohm.

If you're getting a new alternator and batteries, you won't need the capacitor. Hell, even if you weren't getting the alt and batts, you wouldn't need it.

How much space do you have to work with...how much are you willing to give up? If you have the space and the $$ a pair of SoundSplinter RL-S 15s in parallel to 1.5ohms would be very loud and very clean...However they do take a pretty large box(about 5 cubes each). But if you have the space they could give you tremendous clean output. Also using the pair in an infinite baffle setup where the truck IS the box would work really well. It would be a more difficult install so make sure the installer is up to the challenge. In my opinion they would out perform any single 18 I can think of. As stated by someone else in the forum, make sure your electrical system is up to the task. Those RF amps are beasts if you feed them right. Anyways theres my 2cents. Good luck.
