right now i have a cheap h/u in. i am willing to spend about $400 for a h/u. who makes the best h/u for basic sub setups.

what features are you looking for in a HU?

if you're system consists of nothing but a HU/amp/sub, then why bother upgrading?

i think alpine HU are really nice, excellent sound quailty

Agreed, Alpine's sound great. I've tried just about every one and my last was eclipse cd5000-8 volt preouts and my 4-volt preout alpine decks blew it away in sound quaility
