Recommended Posts

So, I already pre ordered it and just downloaded it on Ruckus so I will give a review of it later, but does anyone else plan on buying this album?

Probably won't buy it. I've listened to it a few times already and thought it was pretty good but I haven't seen this release on vinyl yet...thus it's not in my immediate plans to purchase it.

Vinyl is arguably the purest form of audio playback...

Well, next to 7 1/2 IPS tape, but vinyl kicks tape's ass for availability :D

where do you buy albums on vynl?

Used ones, anywhere from Audiogon to Craigslist for me.

New, I've liked Classic Records' 200g re-issues, Simply Vinyl's 180g, ElusiveDisc, MusicDirect...but be prepared for sticker shock at some of those places.

Very arguably, and I will never EVER be convinced of it.

I know I can hear a difference between vinyl and CD and that's not always just because of the master (although that is usually the predominant difference). But that's not why I buy vinyl....I buy it because I love it...it's esoteric, nostalgic, and genuinely fun.

Tower Records used to have a pretty good selection online, but they hit the fan several months ago.

I'd check out an issue of Stereophile or The Absolute Sound, they usually list new releases and who's releasing them.

I would argue that a computer is the purest form, lol

hence its recorded to a computer 1st,

then whatever would support large .wav files, i've made songs that have been over a gig of space before being converted.

Most of the music I listen to never touched a computer in its original form :D

actually a lot more music than you think is still recorded as an analog format, i'm not saying a mojority, just more than you think....i visited a recording school this summer(one of my buddies is going) and went on a tour and the guy said that many artists prefer to be recorded to tape instead of digitally

but then again LOTS of music is recorded digitally...and the digital studios they had there were pucking nuts!

Ive seen them in concert opening up for System of a Down. Mars Volta really wasn't my cup of tea though.

i heard a little bit of mars volta before that show and i like them. i went to the mars volta/system of a down show and was blown away, best concert or pretty close to it that ive ever been to! though system was better at their last show before splitting up. man i had great seats for both concerts.
