12" Re Audio SE or SR Subwoofer?

Recommended Posts

My friend wants to purchase my 1.8 cu ft ported enclosure tuned to 30 hz along with my MTX amplifier that is rated at 400 watts RMS.

He also wants to purchase a 12" Re Audio subwoofer.

Which sub would you recommend to him if he had the setup I mentioned above?

Would he be underpowering the SE while reaching full potential with the SR?

He is not really into SQ as I am, but he wants his bass to be loud and extremely low. Which sub would be better off with 400 watts RMS?

Thanks

At that power level...John is right, the SR would probably be a better choice. If your friend wanted to step up in terms of power to about 800-1000 watt amplifiers, I would choose the SE.

I've head the RE SR 10" model on 500 watts RMS, and it sounded pretty awesome for that amount of power in a 1.5 cubic foot box sealed.

id have picked the SE, and had room for improvement later had he wanted a little more output. i've heard a few SE on 400 each and they sounded great for that little of power.

Agreed 100%, but I read on CarAudio.com that the poster has already picked the SR.
