amps to power SSD 12's

right now, my set-up is what i got in my sig... i was thinking about getting another ssd. i was lookin for reasonable priced amps that could power two ssd 12"s. i was looking at the SPL DK-3400D and the SPL FX1-5500D. It says their THD at Rated RMS Power 0.50%... I read that good amps have <.1% THD... Is .4% difference that much? And I know that the rms wattage is a little different but these two amps are fairly close in price, why is that?

You're using the amp for subs, don't even worry about the THD percent.

What's your budget like? Those subs don't deserve either of those amps.

why shouldnt i worry about the THD? what you mean the ssd dont deserve these amps? i was actually going with a hifonic thor but that cost too much. n my budget is cheap lol. i spent about 1000 on my system already... n adding another SSD sub will cost 250. see right now i got 1200rms watts on the one ssd but i think it can handle more...

2) SPL amps are garbage, the SSD's deserve something better

3) The RMS on the SSD is 800w. Going off of you "think" it can handle more than 1200w is a silly assumption. You'll end up voiding the warranty if you continue.

well the SSD is 800w safe wit no options, i got the options that would should add about 200-500 rms watts. and why are the spl amps garbage?

2) Just looking at them, you know they're cheap inefficient amps.

thanks, i guess your right but i just thought that maybe i could get another ssd n power two with an amp that wouldnt tear a ditch in my pockets. man i cant remember where i came over a massive list of awesome amps and their power ratings

Also keep in mind that just because an amp is on that list, doesn't mean it does rated power.

You say your budget is cheap but how much is cheap? If that hifonics was too much, you probably won't find anything.... Look into used or refurbished amps...

take a look at Sundown audio amps - especially the saz-1500.....great amp. If a new one is too much, You might try contacting Sundownz (he's the owner), or someone at SSA to see if they have any used ones....great amps and great customer service if you have any questions

well im tryin to get an amp to power two SSDs n that saz3000 at 2 ohms wont give me enough power... i need 2200-2500 rms watt at either 2ohms or .5 ohms.

i have heard tho that the sundown 1500 is underrated and is stable at .5 ohms right?

It's stable if you have a proper electrical backbone.

You don't need 1200 watts to each sub... Unless you have flatwind and bp power, that wouldn't be a good idea...

i got 1200 watt on 1 SSD 12" right now n its eatin up the power like nothing... and i got the flatwind and bp power...

Your goal is to keep your voltage above 12v at all times.

If you just run one 1500D @ .5 ohms, you'll need a 180-200a alternator along with a better than stock deep cycle or AGM battery up front.

You'll run the risk of starving the amp of voltage below 12v. And at .5 ohms if the amp blows, you're not under warranty, so the repair will come out of your pocket.

not enough power... well since this is my first system install, im kinda new at it. i was wondering do i just y split the rcas to two amps and then wire the subs to each amp separately? cus im thinkin about just gettin another hifonics amp and use two amps to power the two ssds

People here know their stuff, it's wise to take their avice. The kicker would be plenty power, and likely your best bet being you need a 2 or .5 ohm load. Your hifonics you have now probably barely does 1000 watts on a great day. Another option would be a strapped pair of sundown 1000's.
