amp and sub wiring question

Recommended Posts

ok i see all these people talkin about how they wire their stuff at .5 ohms. how does that work? i mean like on amps, the ohms are usually 4, 2, n 1. well im askin this because right now i got 1 dvc ssd 12" (bp n flatwound) with a hifonics amp powering 1200rms watts at 1ohm. i was thinking of getting another ssd, so that mean i would get an amp to power 2400rms watts. i looked at some of the wiring configurations on kicker n 12voltz website n it shows that i can only have them at 2 ohms or .5 ohms. at 2 ohms the amp i wanna get is kinda really outta the way money wise because at 1ohm it is a lot more than wat i need. so yea im just wondering how i could achieve the .5 ohm with the set-up of 2 ssds if an amp has 4,2, or 1 ohm rating.

You can't, if the amp is only stable down to 1 ohm safely...

A pair of Sundown 1500d amps strapped at 2 ohms should do the trick.

how would i wire the amps together? i know how to wire the subs to get a 2 ohm load only...
