Which subs to buy?

Recommended Posts

Currently I have cheap crappy Duals from best buy and am looking to upgrade. I am looking for SPL, but SQ is very important as well since it's a daily driver. THey have to be able to take a beating and handle extreme weather as well (both cold and hot). In my search I've found a lot and would like some opinions. I've been looking at stuff like the FI BL, RE MX, and Audioque HDC3. Other people have recommended DC audio as well as T3.

Basically I'm looking for a quality sub that's not too expensive, that gets VERY loud while still retaining good SQ. It seems like there is a lot of good subs out there. I admit I don't know much about the stuff either, making it more difficult to choose. So I hope some of you guys could help lead me to a sub I'd be happy with. :)

Any budget? What about an amp you'd like to use?

And what do you drive(suv,truck,car)

I have a Fi BTL 18(daily 1 option) and a us amp merlin md3d that is for sale

It would be like day and night changing from the duals.

The BTL has very good spl and pretty good sq.

I also have a box.

Hit me up, we can work something out.

I don't really have a set budget. I just don't want to spend stupid money. If I can get a really nice sub for $250-$350, maybe a bit more.. then I'm happy. As for the amp, I'm not entirely sure yet, but I am thinking the Crunch GP3000D-Pro to run the sub at 2 Ohm, and the PZi 100.4 for components. You think that'll be good? I've read some good things about the Crunch amps and I really do like the prices. Right now Im really just trying to plan everything out and since this will be my first real system, I have a lot to learn. Pretty much the cheaper the component is without sacrificing SPL or SQ is what I'm looking for.

Also, I drive a 00 sunfire.

Well your not going to get the brands listed above for 300, and for a amp, sub, box, and hu your going to have to spend more.

Well your not going to get the brands listed above for 300,

How do you figure? The Audioque HDC3 is $239 from their site and the Fi Audio BL15 is just under $300. IDK how much the RE MX is though, but from the looks of it, I can definitely get a loud sub in that price range. If you think I should up my budget a little for something else, feel free to suggest something though.

I wish you the best of LUCK......dude...I'm no expert but what I have learned out here is . . . "U get what you pay for", and those brands you list are good stuff.....but unless you run accross a major DEAL, you gonna have too up that budget.....to get good stuff man....the install is a very important part of the sound but the quality of your equipments gonna play a part too know what I mean.......loud with not that much power........look into IMAGE DYNAMICS.....I am running a IDMAX 12" now.....it sound pretty tight, I'm not tryin too break any records or nothing but it sound good....GOOD LUCK too you man........."CAN"T REALLY BEAT ZED WHEN IT COMES TOO PRICE VS. PERFORMANCE"....
