Recommended Posts

hi, a freind has given me his set of alpine type r componots but one has a blown midbass driver. now i am wondering is there anyway that i can find out what the highpass and lowpass is set at? they are the newer ones that have an 110 rms rating

Doesn't matter what it is as you can't just replace it with a driver that you think fits that range anyways. You need to get two identical drivers and since all crossovers are custom it really should be the exact driver that the crossover was designed for and nothing else.

ok then. now i have 2 sax100.2 and a 9887 for processoring. would it be bad to have the highs going to one sax100.2 and midrange going to the other sax100.2 and then connect 2 midranges per channel on a sax100.2 ( for a total of four midranges) and then do the same thing for the tweeters on the other sax100.2

While I think it is absurd to run that many drivers, you have plenty of processing available so use your ear. Start really conservative and change the slope and frequency until it blends well. If you are going to use them you might as run all active though, but then you might as well get some real drivers.
