Kicker System Problems

Recommended Posts

Hi. I have recently been having problems with my Kicker sound system. I have a Kicker ZX750 Mono Amp, 2 12 in. Kicker Comps, Kicker KS69 Speakers, and a Kicker 4 gauge wiring kit. I have only been using the system for about 2-3 months now. Latly, however, the bass has been cutting in and out. What I mean by that is that on songs that had nice bass before...now the bass doesn't play half of the song. It's like every other three beats. Do I need a power cap or what is going on here? My headlights are also dimming when the bass does pound (but not all the time). Also, on the amp, there is a frequency setting that I am not sure what to set at. Does anyone have any suggestions for this too? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

what is the voltage at the amp input terminals when the amp shuts off??

Have you upgraded your big three yet??

How is the amp grounded???

subs might be fried depending on where you set the gains.

Or the HPF might be too low.

u didnt let any of your friends play with your amp..... maybe one of them said.. AHH ILL BRIDGE IT MAKE IT HIT HARDER>>>

sounds like maybe if all of the above dont work, it seems like you maybe runnin too low of ohms,

how many ohms are the subs you have are thay DVC or SVC. and how are thay wired.

and try and figure out when it happends, are you 1 driving at night, headlights on and all, A/C running?

hott day?

Check you Frequency on your Low Pass Crossover first.

Make sure all your connections and grounds are secure

and make sure you have bass boost turned off

It'll actually be his High pass filter. He said it doesn't hit the low lows anymore. Indicative of a HPF that is set too high.

I have been the only one to mess with my system. But then again, I'm not a pro at it yet. I'm still trying to figure it all out so I may have messed it up myself. The gains are both set at 6 and I'm not sure about the frequency (probably something I should know, but again, I'm no pro). The amp is grounded to a part in my trunk under the trunk carpet. I'll check all the connections and I'm going to a guy's place that knows his stuff in a few days to cehck it out. I'll get back to you if I figured it out. Thanks.

the 750 is a monoblock amp if im not mistaken. I'd say the subs are gone. those subs if they are comps are with single 8 ohm or single 4 ohm. Chances are they are single 4 ohm if they were hittin at one point. because if they were single 8 ohm they wouldn't hit as hard because the amp doesn't have much power at 4 ohms. I've sold alot of comps and i've always paired them with a zx 300.1 or a 400.1 and they jam real hard.
