good box for spl12?

im getting one next week hopefully, and i have a box that was built for my 9512g...

its 2^3ft @ 38hz with 35^2in of port....will it work well in that box and still retain decent sq?

I don't know if this info will work for you, here goes. Mark recommended 6ft^3 box with 65sq in of port area 18in long. That tuned to 35Hz. I've yet to build the box, but I like to know if a smaller box would work better.

For the SPL 12? I dont think so! Maybe for a pair.

Thats big for the IXL 15.

You must be thinking of some other sub. The test box was 3.8 cubic feet and Mark said 2.5-3 would be fine. Post #22.

I did? Maybe I had one too many when I said that...

Kidding aside, if you can squeeze 2.5 cubes you will be a bit better off. Given that high of tuning, it appears you were more focused on output. The SPL-12 turned out to be more musical than I thought it would be. I say try it!

hhmmm well ill try the box i have out and see how it does....what would you suggest tuning wise if i went with 2.5^3ft?

Augh! The box I quoted is for two SPL 12's. Opps! Sorry for the confusion. I was at the end of my break at work. Is there a recommended port area to box size ratio for the SPL 12? Thanks.

I liked the prototype in 3.0 @32hz.

Like Denim says, 3 cubes at 32Hz would be just fine if you can fit it in your vehicle. Go with 42 sq. inches of port and you should have some good output.
