1 Ohm or 2 Ohm is based on the needs of your amp... D1 can be wired to .5 or 2 Ohm and D2 can be wired to 1 or 4 Ohm. Most single sub setups with 1 amp use the D2s as 1 Ohm monoblocks are most common.

Universal allows you to be able to swap out via a recone to any coil in the lineup. For reference the D2 coil is the "universal" gap... D1 is slightly smaller.

Thanks,

Scott

Well really it comes down to subwoofer impedence and amplifier impedence stability.

A DVC subwoofer can be wired 2 ways, series and parallel.

1 Ohm DVC sub with voice coils wired in series = 2 ohm impedenceth

1 ohm DVC subwoofer with voice coils wired in paralell = 0.5 ohm load

2 ohm DVC subwoofer with voice coils wired in series = 4 ohms

2 ohm DVC subwoofer with voice coils wired in parallel = 1 ohm

The universal option Fi offers i belive allows the user to switch between 1 ohm and 2 ohm voice coils.

so lets say i had an amp that runs down to 1 ohm and i only get one 18" sub,, iwould have to get a dual 2 ohm right? to drop to 1 ohm? and i would have to have two dual 1 ohms to run at 1 ohm? and does the universal option hurt the sub any, performance wise? sorry im just startin to learn.

If you have an amp that supplies ample power at 1 ohm and you want to se one subwoofer then you'll want to buy a dual 2 ohm subwoofer.

If you want to use an amp that has ample power at 1 ohm and want to use two subwoofers then you'll want to buy two dual 1 ohm subwoofers and wire the coils in parallel and then wire the subs to the amp in series.

One dual 2 ohm subwoofer with it's voice coils wired in parallel presents the amp with a 1 ohm load

One dual 1 ohm subwoofer with it's voice coils wired in parallel presents the amp with a 0.5 ohm load/

What amp are you planning on using?
