Replacement for Maggies., full range only.

I think Jim and I are the only full range people on here, but what the hell.

I'm looking to build a replacement set of speakers to change up my basement setup. I'm currently running QSC pro amps and a pair of Magnepan MG-IIB's, the sub stage will be covered by Mach 5 audio MAW-15's in stereo. I've been listening to my BBBIB's more and more and I'm loving the sound more than my maggies, plus I'm itching to build something knew.

I'm leaning heavily on the frugel horn spawns (the Bruce is what I'm looking at), something in the range of an 8" or larger full range setup. I would love to do another BIB, but I feel that my ceilings in the basement are to short for that, I only have roughly 6.5' of height to work with. Lord knows the BBBIB's won't fit down there as much as I'd love to have them there.

The main use will be mostly for movies but I will not skimp out for when I get to use them for pure audio bliss.

Driver cost I'd like to keep under 100-120 per, and the complexity of the build is a non issue as well. So I'd love to hear some suggestions or idears on what you guys would do. I'm leaning toward the Bruce, but what would you do with my room?

As you can see there isn't a whole lot of room to work with, I can't position the setup going the long ways due to the fact there is a door at the end, and a 42" TV + Speakers + Subs does not fit there.

So basically, what would you do for a DIY full-range setup?

Would you consider dual FR125s? Also seems to be a good following of people using the Pioneer full rangers. You would still need a super tweeter though. Can also consider some Fostex 8s.

I'm working on my own full range project using either the Pioneer BOFU for lower priced build or a couple fostex 6.5 inch drivers.

Scale up a Nelson Pass J-Low to 8's...muhahahahahahha

If you go 8's, the Fostex 208 Sigma seems to get a very good following, but supertweets would be nice to keep from beaming too badly...

It appears I don't have enough room for 8's to work out well. I'm currently going to be building the Mileva ( http://homepage.mac.com/tlinespeakers/FAL/...-1v0-021207.pdf ) then see what I end up with after I finish that design.

Good lawd a J-low scaled up to 8's would be massive (and massively cool too). I don't think I could fit it in my basement though.

I love my BIBs, but in my large living room w/vaulted ceiling, as they stand do not have the impact they did in my bedroom w/8ft ceiling.

Looks like I'll have to make another build sometime. I imagine if I loaded the mouth of the same BIB to the floor I would get back the impact.

My vote goes for building another pair, but with a bigger driver.

Also something that I have discussed is putting another driver (same type, just a second one) in the baffle on a low pass filter to give an extra boost in the low end.
