i seen this one time in a lincoln towncar, made a center channel with two 3 inch subs, and for mids, anyhow i cant seem to find any one that makes 3 inch subs, so i turn to SSA<

the ones that this man used were subs, they were 3 inch a square bolt patren, and they were 4 inches depth mount.

either way im intrested in building a center channel in my car i would like to keep my depth around 3 to 3 1/2 , also my first thought was to run them off my head unit, anyone have any input? thanks SSA

You can't use "subs" for a center channel. Playing only to 100hz or so will not give you anything useful at all.

How much space for an enclosure do you have? What sort of processing? and why??

7 inches wide,4inches deep and 4 inchs tall, signel prosses? im not sure what your asking... and why. because i have a very wide car, and i have a weak point in the middle,

But that weak spot is probably a lack of mid/high range sound. Bass is pretty much omni-directional. You want a full-range. A 3" sub isn't going to make any useful "bass".

well... i mean, ok i hear what your sayin.. and im open to what people suggest, a three inch sub is what i seen, it just sparked an intrest for my car, not that i wanna have a SUB in my dash just a fuller sound, my factory speaker locations are in the doors, and near the head unit and the center arm rest is kinda dead,

i have crap componets, 5x7 alpine type R, front and back,

on a jl 300/4

pioneer avh 5700

im open to suggestions

i know what your saying and M5 gave me some options to think about. and i changed my amp and m5 you were right the jl is a much cleaner amp. but i would like more,

i listen to rap,

in the rear deck are for 5x7 but a 6x9 can be worked, should i be looking for a coaxel type speaker?

i currenty run 2 sets of alpine type r 5x7 comp.

depth is not an issue on the rear,

i cant ask for help on the front yet cause i must mesure depth

i think we need to take into consideration his choice in music. he said he listens to rap. going of that, and depending on the rap he listens to, i would say he doesnt really care about sound stage and all that fun stuff. just wants to get loud, and hear the full frequency range. correct me if im wrong bigjon

if you want to run the rears, look for coaxials and run them off your HU. while i agree with jim and sean that you dont need rears, some people like it better with sound coming from the back...like my dad. you can also turn the rears off as well. components will be a waste of money back there.

to get rid of that weak spot, deaden and seal the crap out of your doors and you will most likely have what you are looking for.

upgrade to a nice set of 6.5" components up front and put the tweeters on the a-pillars.

Don't think your gonna find a three inch sub anywhere though. I wouldn't run a center channel ( personally at all ) unless your going to have a 5.1 setup. I would just get some decent components, and amp them

THANK YOU! yes i listen to rap, and i want it to sound, loud, right but seems how i dont listen to classical or somthing like that you are correct it does not have to be spot on. it just have to be full.... for my car is longer then most cars.. it is a lincoln towncar cartier L... its bigger inside. so i wanna fill the void.... and i have some monster subs, as far as running the coaxels off the headunit, i have had had problems before with that, asfar as when i reach peak for the rest of my audio my h/u speakers are distored.

im not intrested in making the back nor the front louder, i just want a good loud sound, AND BEFORE YALL SAY LOUD IS BAD, we all want to be loud

i will try and seal the doors up with some hushmat

with out knowing depth what is what is a fair 6 1/2 componets?

and a good pair of coaxels for the rear,

If you are buying components take all your budget and put it in the fronts, having rears will NOT make it louder.

instead of hushmat, look into raammat or secondskin.

The front speakers are going to make the quality in your sound, no doubt about that. However I like rears and 6x9 are great back there. You can just dial them down with a fader if you like that is what I do...if I am outside the car I run them back up. Get a coax that handles your power, get one with bass and not much tweeter. I have boston comps in front, 5x7, am going to deaden and see if they do better in midbass soon as I get to that. Otherwise I want to try to fit 8s in there. Have some 6.5 but they are not any larger than the 5x7 so I'm not sure what the point is of using them. I've used lots of 6.5 and they all are weak in bass when you try to get low in front, I suppose that I never hit the right setup is possible.

that was someone else..... although thay think simaler to me haha, i took your advise, im shopping for 61/2's for the front, and in the mean time im gonna hush matt the doors and then go from there,
