Looking for a 2500watt amp for 2 12" Fi Q or Icon Subs...

Recommended Posts

i plan on running 2 12" fi q or ssa icon subs in a 4cf ported enclosure tuned to 28hz. my car is running a minibattery upfront (to clear upper intercooler pipes), an optima yellowtop (extended battery, not standard), 2 1 farad caps, big 3 upgrade, and a 180amp iraggi alternator. the amp im currently using is a mtx 1501d (1500watts @ 1 ohm). here are my concerns:

1) would it be worth it to upgrade to an amp that is around 2500watts?

2) how many watts can my current electrical system handle?

3) will i be able to run an amp around 2500watts and another one for mids and highs around 200-300watts?

4) what amp would you guys recommend (looking to spend $800 or less)? so far im looking at the rf t2000, kicker 2500, or if subs and car can handle it: 2 sundown 1500s.

appreciate the help!

1) Depends on what your sonic goals are.

2) If you get rid of the capacitors, more then you can currently run. Try a different deep cycle battery in the rear like a powermaster or similar.

3) Most likely, yes.

4) $800 or less for 2500w? Try looking for a used Sundown SAZ-3000D. That should give you all the ohm flexibility you'll ever need.

my goal is to have a loud, clean, deep, hard hitting system and be able to power my subs to their potential. would the sundown 3000 be too much for my electrical system if i have another amp for mids and highs thats 2-300 watts? i would really like to keep my current optima battery. the battery i have looks like this:

if i cant find a sundown, what would be the next best choice?
