Sundown/Critical Mass Stereo System

Recommended Posts

Heard one tonight... Wow. The owner was Toby from T&J Elite Customs in Oldsmar, FL. Was in an Escalade, probably an 04 or so. Was a SAZ-3000D running a Critical Mass 5000 in a box that was around 3 cubes tuned to 38hz. SAX-100.2 on the Critical Mass comp set. Entire system was 1 12, 2 6.5s, and 2 tweeters. Those components screamed! They sounded great, and blended perfectly. The sub was probably the best sounding woofer Ive ever heard. Couldnt even tell there was a sub, you would think it was actually a bass drum. As good as it sounded, he metered it and it was right at 144.xdbs on the Termlab, legal. He is a Sundown dealer and was playing with the 3000D and hooked it up to a DMM and said he just about crapped himself when he was seeing the numbers on the DMM.

First time hearing a 3000D, and it didnt dissapoint. It was beating the hell out of that 12 and putting out some seriously clean sound. The 100.2 was making the Comp set scream. The Critical Mass UL12 has had alot of hype, and lived up to every bit of it. Anyway, heres the pics I took.

Hey, I am glad that someone agrees with. The UL12 is one of the best SQ subs out there. If not the best!! Sorry Jake, nothing against your subs!!! :D I also for fun compete with them! I have two that I am now reconing, if any one is interested give me a pm.

Component set? Tweeters?

I thought CM made electrostats...maybe I'm just confused.

where's the term lab pic?

for such great products, the install is kinda, well, cheesy. especially the amp side. that's just wrong.

but hey, whatever floats da boat, ya know? i'd like to hear one of those subs one day.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Anyone realize that the enclosure is actually only 4" tall and takes up all the cargo area ?

You can see the poorly carpeted port right at the front.

Someone was smoking crack when they thought that one up..

Tuned to 38Hz, accuracy probably wasn't a concern :(

For a driver that Tom Nousiane liked so much...:(

nope, didn't notice that...while a decent idea, still, i think, poorly executed. the install is just cheesy. especially for the gear used.

also, i agree with jim's above post. tuned a bit high for a sub that's supposed to be all about sq.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:
