2002 BMW 325i

Recommended Posts

check it out i did this in about 1.5 hours yesterday afternoon at work what yall think?

i did a kicker zx400.1 powering 2 oldschool kicker comp 4 ohms. they are in a prefab ported box (probably tuned around 38 hz :( ) but thats what the customer bought. i did the car saturday but the trunk was so sealed i needed to "port" it. no tuning just basically letting bass in the cabin. here ya guys go....

heres the bass knob install in the glovebox

I am just glad it wasn't your idea, lol.

It all depends on the goal, those cars in particular don't take well to subs in the trunk. It would help to have them rear fire...

Interesting , if it were me I would have probably cut the entire piece of metal out of there and put a gasket around the cut edge. But I know how you feel, customer wants, customer gets. I used to have to do some of the dumbest crap known to man. Tis why I'm kind of selective about who I do work for now a days. I don't have to be burger king anymore, you get it my way or you don't get it at all :)

that or replace the rear deck speakers with mini subs. Or pull out some of the trunk insulation.

If you would have covered the opening with some vinyl, it would have looked 10000000% better.

lol i was going to type that yesterday but i didn't.

one thing though i thought that BMW's had a Ski hole to slide your skiis in. em, couldn't you just open the entire skii hole and not have to port it into the cabin like that?

is the box mounted to the floor or is it being held in place by the port?

i would not trust the box being mounted to that port do to the surface the port is mounted to. if you put light behind that plate on those bmw's you can see the spaces inbetween the welds to hold it in. if you punch it hard enough you can knock it out. i knocked the one outta my dads 740il after i had a 8 mounted there because the 8 rattled it apart. 8's sound good right there. also im not sure about the skii rack thing. as far as replacing back deck with mini subs i did not do that on this one. i did it on a 740il (4 5.25's boston acoustics) turned out o.k. i guess.

Depending on the year that plate regularly is removable. It surely was on my last two. I would have just taken it out.

Well, at least I noticed the detail on the amp install. Great job on the wiring, and snap-on FTW

x2!!

or like ///m5 touched on, just removed the panel. sometimes if you give the customer a little more then what they want (in this case, a cleaner opening), you'd get even better response.

i've been in that situation where the customer has wanted something completely stupid,in a really good car (if it's a pos, who cares?) and refused to do it. sat down with the customer and explained the right way to do it, and usually got my way. the previous owner of the shop i worked at was so picky, he'd flat out call a person stupid to their face and show them the door. it was definitely chuck's way or not done. of course, chuck's way was usually the correct way.

also, the amp install is clean. i have one of those waiting to go into the hooptie.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

In my E46 I just knocked out the entire ski pass. It didn't have cold/weather package, but the piece is meant to be knocked out. Removing the rear speakers also yields the same results as removing the ski pass.

The red circles are what hold the piece in place. One swift kick would knock the entire piece out. But, I understand the op was just doing his job and what was asked of him.

and then the insulation you have to remove; this is the main reason why you see a lot of "complaints" about not able to hear bass in from trunk
