i just got into an accident :(

Recommended Posts

yeah, happened about 2 hrs ago. i just got done speaking with my insurance and Alamo rentals loss/damage department.

i feel chitty seeing my car bruised like this, but very very pissed about people that don't pay attention to the road. i have been in near collisions MANY MANY times for the same reason of people merging w/o looking, and i knew that that would be the accident i would be involved in eventually and well it did happen today. the story,

i was driving north bound on a 4 lane road with a center divider on the outside lane. he pulled out of a complex area from the far left onto the center divider. then at a very slow speed he merged into the inside lane(i'm still on the outsie lane/far right). right now i'm doing 40mph coming up to him. at half a cars lenght infront of me i see him just swirve into my lane at his low speed, probrably 5-10mph, and well that's when the magic happened. :madsign:

my baby, :(

what makes me feel worse is the amount of body that shifted on the car cause my drivers side of the hood is pinching my head light and my door now makes this nasty scratching sound when i open it. really pisses me off.

people seriously need to fucking watch the road. :madsign: :madsign: :(:madsign:

alamo's loss/damage rep took the information and gave me my claim number. i have to call their claim department tomorrow morning to let them know what ever it is they want.

funny though when the officer pulled us to give us the information exhange he stated him/his vehicle was at fault of the accident. i grabbed my papers and went off to my friend who was driving behind me. he stayed with the cop trying to figure out why he was at fault. cop didn't want to hear excuses and left. :)

not really, but i do have a good co-worker of mine that is in good connections with a few mechanics. i'll see what's up as he'll probrably hear about it before i get to him.

i need to go put ice on my foot as it's hurting a bit from the braking + point of impact.

Sorry it happened though. I feel your pain. I got in a wreck this summer in my moms 97 f250 and it was pretty much perfect inside and out (momma lil baby ya know). Its just sad to see such money thrown away and how its just one instant and you can't ever get it back. :(

Oh man, that's going to be such an easy fix. Don't even fret it.

You need a new fender, bumper and headlight from what the pictures show.

You'll probably end up making money on this deal if you buy the parts yourself and shop smart.

I've had to go through this before, trust me... it looks worse than it really is.

At least it isn't coming out of your pocket. I still need to get my car fixed from some vandalism damage from the summer at my expense.

Just what i was going to say. Doesn't look difficult to fix at all.

update!

well today i finally received my check from their insurance, and a nice one at that!

just barely 2,700

WELL!!

after some thought, i got it in mind that i could really make money off this as Johnecon mentioned.

after looking up the needed parts of an unpainted OEM bumper 150.00-160.00, unpainted OEM fender 125.00, a pair of new Halo Projector head lights 240.00, splash guard 25.00.

all totals out to around 550-600.

could someone give me an estimate to how much getting the parts prepped and painted would cost?

i am still 100% not saying that i will just cash this check and go at it. this weekend i plan on removing the bumper to get a look at the frame and to see if there is any damage to the joints that hold the fender as that section has been shifted.

though what do you guys think?

Depends on what you need painted. A bodyshop will hardly even touch a gun for less than $400 and it goes up quick from there.

Bumper & Front left fender.

Shouldn't be much, especially if you bring them the parts to paint rather than the car.

I doubt you'll need much blending on that color.

yeah i had thought the same. cause the paint on the car itself is completely fine and isn't fading. i take lots of care to my car and wash it regularly. always use a soft sponge to wash the car, dry off with a microfiber towel, then detail wax the car, buff with a microfiber. etc. only towels i put on the car are microfibers. lol, i got like 30 of them thrown around.

i might pull the splash sheild off in a moment to get a look at the fender.

yep.

i havent had an accident in my car since i purchased it 19 months ago but i have also had close calls because of retarded people. i can go on and on about how people fail to obey the law. If i were a cop, i swear to you all i could easily give out 4-7 tickets every morning just on the way to work which is only a 14 minute drive!

I had my car broken into 2 week of December last year and it is STILL being fixed. It's not that it was badly damaged but a replaced window, some scratches on trim panel, removal of glass, paint, custom makeover of graphics, simonyz wax, tint, $2,200

I'm still having things done to it.

See, the first time i had ever had to make a claim was when some idiot opened their door and dented my car, again, dumb people.

He confessed to doing it, the dent was 3" in diameter, cost to fix - $898! Why? the cost to fix the dent, paint, special wax-simonyz and a new graphic design.

My car is a pain to have to work on body-wise and the insurance knows it, but they think it's funny just like i do.

haha, i had to edit the post because i typed "paint" so much the last line said - my car is a paint to work on, pretty funny. But what's funnier.... editing my post to say i edited my post and tell yo u what i edited even though the point of editing is not to see what i edited..... priceless.

Dis is true. I had my one show cars front ground effect re-fiberglassed and the painted not to mention my side ground effects molded into the car and painted and cost me nearly 1300 smacks. It was BFI Blue with flakes in it, so that didn't help, but still...........

Looks like the other guys car took more of the lick.

Good luck on fixing everything. Like the one guy said, you could make some money on this if done right.
