broken sub help. is this covered by the warranty???

Recommended Posts

hi ive owned a fi bl 15 fully loaded for like 5 or six months I love it. last week I notice a weird noise coming from the sub and today it stop playing, im running a fosgate p8002 amp witch is around 900 rms and a pioneer head unit gain is set half way , well I took the sub out of the enclosure and one of the tinsel leads broke I have a soldering gun and I fixed it back but the problems from the noise is the spider that came loose from the cone so since I have a one year warranty on the sub what do I need to get it repair,,, please help I love the my bl a lot better than my other Rockford fosgate t215d2

right now i have Extreme Leads on the sub and thats was eating up the spider a little bit so if my warranty is valid can i get normal leads? thanks again.

this is my sub,,,,,,,,

fi bl 15 fully loaded

ohms= 2

cooling=yes

flatwind=yes

daily or spl= daily

Extreme Lead=yes.... but i dont want them so if i could get them changed to normal would be great.

universal =no

CA GLUE :)

easy fixx

the spider came apart all arround and it seems to be tearing close to the cone and i dont wanna put glue 2inches thick from the cone the would make the sub imposible to move thanks for ur comments though.

not a good idea to reglue the spider in place as the coil coul of shifted some and when reglued could end up being out of alighnment. you'd have to take off the center cap, use a shimey, then reglue it but then that's really voiding the warrenty.

make sure that uyou email scott and give him a day or 2 to respond. all my emails were responded in 2 days so don't sweat it.

Send it in we'll take a look at it..honestly man i've never seen one fail like that with 900 watts...considering it has 4 spiders on it its kind of hard to do :).

Make sure you put your name, address, email address, phone number on a piece of paper in with the woofer.

Send it to:

Fi Car Audio

RMA: 1242007

5480 Cameron St #107

Las Vegas NV 89118

Write the RMA number on the outside of the box with a sharpie. We'll take a look at it and see what happened, if it's covered under warranty we'll rebuild it for you and get it back out ASAP.

Thanks!

-Nick

Was there any other setup involved other than "the gain is halfway"?

Nick,, i can take pics of my car and my set up if u want, the only reason i notice that is when my sub stoped working and i had to pull it out of the enclosure becuase of a tinsel lead that broke from its base but i soldered it back, i wasnt gonna send it back for warranty just for that since i have a soldering gun easy job to do but yeah i looked further in and i saw the spider like that thats why im here. thanks and if u could nick can i get rid of the extreme tinsel leads? it doesnt matter if i have to pay for that thanks a lot.

Definitely want this one back to look at. I havent seen a spider joint failure like that on BL, so we want to see what is going on there.

We will get it repaired and back out ASAP.

Thanks,

Scott

Apparently they are way ahead of me... already cleaned up and coil in when I found it this morning. Should be finished tomorrow and Ill get a UPS label going. Ill forward you the tracker when it goes out.

Pol said he will find the soft parts for me to look at so I can figure what had happened. Im sure Ill contact you from there to see how things are set up too.

Thanks,

Scott

Yes, regular leads on this one. Cooling is a function of the motor (which doesnt change) and they did have the flatwind in it.
