Which subs? for extended cab S10

Recommended Posts

whats up guys, ill be running a sundown saz1500 on ??? not sure yet, ill be using all of the area behind the seats of my ex cab s10 (up to about 8 cubes). Im going for whats gonna be the loudest. Im considering 2 15" SSD's ported, but im open for suggestions. Also anybody that has an ex cab s10 or ranger or something similar im looking for suggestions from you guys too...

remember this will be off 1500ish rms, and would prefer 2 subs for the cone area.... even a single BTL just takes too much power that i wont have for my application

thanks

Will you even be able to fit 2 15's side by side in the truck? I'm guessing you'll either have to go with them firing into the seats or make a slanted box that has them at an up angle.

I don't remember the extended cab being all that big.

Another thing to consider besides the space factor is your electrical to run the SAZ-1500D. If you plan on going to 1ohm with it, you need some decent electrical upgrades to give it all the juice it wants.

my max dimensions would be approximately 50" wide x 25" tall x 20" bottom depth / 10" top depth... i believe this whole area will get me about 8-9 cubes. Id like to stay around 6-7 tho.

Ive had better luck with subs firing into the seats, so ill probably stay with that method.

I will also be running 0/1 from batt to another batt or 2 in the bed... maybe 2 runs if necessary... ill make sure the electrical system is up to par before i even attempt to install this new system.

So with 8-9 cubes in mind, im thinkin about 2 15" ssd's with maybe 6.5-7 cubes common chamber ported to say 33-34hz. As far as a slanted box... maybe ill make the front a flat face for 15" or so inches high ( so the subs fire exactly forward), then slant it the rest of the way up.

But im open for suggestions on the box and subs also...

thanks again

SSD's would do fine...

Fire the subs forward on a angled plane and put the port in the top of the enclosure.

As long as you follow our guidelines for enclosures in the tech section you are good to go for daily driving.

Thanks!

ok sweet, by ports on top of enclosure.. do u mean have the ports firing toward the roof??? or the ports firing forward above the subwoofers (basically firing the same angle as subwoofers)??

ok im confused as hell now... i like the idea of 2 15" SSD's to give me lots of cone area... but a single 18" BL would be nasty too... im tryin to figure out my loudest possibilities... I dont really want to run the sundown 1500 daily at 0.5 ohm... but i will if everyone thinks it will be ok, there for i could go with a 18" BL dual 1.. and get maybe 1800-1900 watts out of the sundown. 95% of the time this system will be for daily pounding, not comp...

So 2 15" SSD's at 1 ohm (1500-1600 watts)....

or

Single 18" BL at 0.5 or 1 ohm (1500 or 1800 watts).....

??? any suggestions? thanks again for all the help

If you're going to run the sundown under 1ohm, you'll need quite a bit of electrical.

Start thinking about a 200a Alternator, and upgraded front battery (not huge, just an upgrade), something similar to the Kinetik HC2000 in the rear and two runs of 1/0awg.

ok, my plans are to get a 200-250 amp alt, already have a red top under hood, ill probably stick with that, 2 runs of 0/1, 2 odysseys in the bed or watever batteries i can get a deal on.... also couple layers of deadener all over

all of this just incase i upgrade to a couple btl's in the future...

im still stuck deciding between 2 15" ssd's or a single 18" BL... any suggestions?? im goin for SPL... not too much on SQ.

You better be very short or flexible, thats gonna be an uncomfortable system to ride in, i have my batteries and amp s in the cab, so that takes up some space, but im getting ready to switch out from my single fifteen in 4 cubes because im uncomfortable

I would do two bl 10"s or 12"s in around 3.5 cubes or a single btl 12" or 15" and if you want more power get another amp and strap em, but keep in mind this is a little truck, the bigger you go the less room you have, some passengers complain cuz my seats are up so far to fit my box
