Output concerns about Q 10" in sealed enclosure

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently purchased an Fi Q 10" and have it in a .6^3ft sealed box (Before displacement). I am running it off an Alphasonik PMA1200D @ 4ohms (approx. 1200 watts) and I notice that the output seems to be really low and kind of dissapointing. It seems to get any real output the gains have to be turned very high along with the bass boost (which of course in not what you want to do).

At this point I am not sure if I should try it in a ported enclosure or if something could be wrong with my amp perhaps. Has anyone else had any of these issues? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

I think it's just your listening preferences. For me, a single sealed Q would probably be enough, easily...but you need more. I'd go ported, tuned low at first...and see how that does.

Or scope it to make sure you are getting what you think you are.

Give ported a shot. A ported box around 1.5 cubic feet tuned low with about 20in^ of port should be a good bit louder. If you dont like it you can always try something else.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I am gonna go both routes. I will scope my amp and assuming it is good to go I will try a ported box.
