SAE-1000d Questions

So the 1000 is rated at 1000W @ 14.4 volts. What kind of numbers are we looking at closer to voltages on stock electrical, say 13V? Would two 1000d's be content on an 100A alt, with the big 3, and a battery in the rear? Also, one amp does 1000W, but two strapped does 1800. Why is this? And one more question... would a 1000d on a Fi SSD 12" wang awesomely?

From the sticky power test:

"I clamped the SAE-1000D on my bench setup:

Pyramid 50 Amp Power Supply

Kinetik 2400 Battery

Duralast 1000 CA Battery

Fluke AC current / voltage meter

Sears DMM

Test load used was 2x SI Mag D2 12" all coils in parallel for 0.6 DCR with a rise to 1.08 ohms.

Voltage = 32.19 Volts

Current = 34.6 Amps

Supply = 14.4v rest dropping to 12.5 volts

Power = 1113 Watts

Notice the voltage drops to 12.5 volts... this simulates a vehicle with a small alternator (50 amps) dropping to battery voltage. The amplifier still produces over 1100 watts.

Officially the SAE line is rated at 13.8 volts as well, but they do exceed their rating anyway.

The strapped rating is lower as the amps lose some efficiency when strapped. Also, as always, this is a very conservative rating -- it assumes that when running two strapped the end-user will be seeing more voltage drop in their actual vehicle.

Your product truly are incredible. I've never known a value line of products to exceed their specification by such a margin. You set the standard for economy. Take pride in knowing that I regard your products as real quality in a world where electronics are getting cheaper and more disposable. Few companies build things for the long run, I hope you keep it this way.

Indeed... the manual does have that "Tested at 14.4v" notation in it... I overlooked it several times and keep forgetting to have it changed! But yes, the SAZ and SAX lines are rated at 12.8 volts and the SAE line is rated at 13.8 volts, officially.

Aloha stevesan... I got 2 rli-8's in a ported box tuned @ 36hz running off

a sundown 1500d @ 1 ohm with a hc 1800 in the rear, 0 guage through

out the suv..all this in a 2006 highlander. I hit a 144.6 car sealed

and running mic @ the dash...

I'll bet that rear cover comes in handy for covering up your audio stash when you're parked.

Yeah trevor Yama put it down at the comp with his SAZ-1500D, and has the pretyty trophy to show what the sundowns can do for ya...

yeah thanks abunai iam glad i seeked your advice that day and went with the sundown..

havent got my spl box ready for the 18th. so iam running the daily box with the

sundown again for the session.

stevesan come down to king inter on nov 18th from 8:30am- 11200pm for the term lab

session i garans you going have fun and meet alot of cool brothers, check out some unreal

systems, see some high #'s on the tl and of course meet the sundown crew reppin it hard.
