Fi Q 15 w/ or w/o BP option

Recommended Posts

im looking at a Fi q 15 and was wondering if i should get the BP option. i currently have a sundown sae1000d, but will be upgrading in the future to a 1500d. will i notice any difference in a Q with the BP on 1kw than one without it?

Personally, I don't even think you'd be able to tell the difference unless you've had prior experience with one. And even then I would be hard pressed to think you could tell the difference, even if you tested both styles in the same enclosure. Remember, this is my educated guess and is not bound to any profesional advise.

i went ahead and got a 15" Q with the bp. i now need to decide on a box. im thinking of tuning to 30hz but not sure on volume. i played around on subwoofer tools and came up with a couple designs.

3.5 @ 30 - http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported...mp;Fs=&CE=0

4.0 @ 30 - http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported...mp;Fs=&CE=0

then i was thinking about tuning to 28hz but im not sure on what i could expect (never owned/heard abox tuned that low). would i be sacrificing upper end freqs? i do listen to rap, so itll be playing alot of lower notes, but there are a few songs where the bassline isnt that low.

4.0 @ 28 - http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported...mp;Fs=&CE=0

i think i got the port area down. help? suggestions?

i tuned mine at 28hz, I have a bigger box than that though, i listen to mostly rap, well almost only rap in the car, but i'm glad i did because it really helps pound some of the really low frequencies in some of the songs, not sure how high you want it to be able to play, i have mine cut off to 65 which I think is still too high for the setup, but i have no mid-bass besides the 6 1/2's. I honestly it's plenty but IMO only the lows sound good loud, the higher bass is more for fill in the music not to be loud, just my opinion though.

came up with this after i took some measurments - http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported...mp;Fs=&CE=0

itll fit perfect between the spare tire and the wheel well in my blazer. i got around 15.5 sqin of port per cuft of box. port is 40in long.

my numbers good? i want to get this built before the sub gets here.

You might want to add a little more height than 15 inches if you are wanting a 15 inch sub
