Rear Fill

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have an 18" BL running at about 1200 watts and this thing moves air. I've had some problems with my rear deck flapping up and down no matter how much I seal it off. It seems air is always getting into it. It will even start shaking my rear seats and moving them in and out (they are foldable). My rear speakers currently are a sealed speaker. In such that they are an older JBL pair I got from a friend's lincoln. So the cone isn't being moved or anything by the air. I don't ever use rear fil, i just threw them in there to help seal up the rear deck and so on. My question is this though...by attempting to seal up the rear deck (dynamating it, covering all the holes, filling it in with speakers), am I just killing my ouput and maybe possibly getting myself in over my head in terms of trying to stop all the air from rattle my rear deck cover? Should I just take the rear speakers out and let it "blowthrough" the rear deck? Does this like "channel" the air in a way to help reduce the pressure and so on?

^^^ hahaha.

I mean if u want the bass trapped in ur trunk then yea seal it off, but what would be the point, because the cabin of ur car wouldnt be gettin all the bass it could which is for most part the main point, lol

But i mean most people just take out the rear speakers becuase they usually stop serving purpose, lol. Unless ur using them for highs, but still tweets would be alot better.

Ur problem sounds like the bass has loosed alot of stuff

I would say get some glue and tack whatever is rattling down, as for ur seats dont know, might be some bolts that could be tightened..

but this is all my opinion i could be wrong

What kind of car is this in? Personally, I would just Dymanatt the rear deck to stop the rattles and leave those rear speakers holes on the deck open. It will allow more output from you sub into the car.

Will it make a difference? Hard to say, every car is different. My Crown Vic had a similar issue when I had my rear speakers in place, removing them and just running front stage, released some of that "bottled up" pressure in my trunk and gave me alot more output inside my cabin. But, my seats dont fold down.

great i was about to start a thread. but here we go!,

i have a 2001 lincoln towncar L, with 2 bls, my back deck is a monster, i mean its alive, but im not takin out my rear speakers, damn that!

i already have the factory 8 inch sub droped and that leaves a 8 inch hole in my back deck, but my rear seat has a big bad ass arm rest that can become a PORT FAST! so should i do it?>

i have read mixed feelings about it POLL IT!

M5 i read a post where you once told a man good job you just hacked up a BMW good job!

town car huh...

Dont u have that big ass wall in ur trunk?

I have a 93, but i dont think its changed much for the trunk.

I know i only have about a 15in or so space that leads into my trunk and even if i were to cut out the arm rest it would still be a big ass piece of metal in the way.

I would say take out ur back seats first, to see if i would work.

However i took out my back seat and honestly i couldn't tell that much of a difference.

the 93 and 2001 didnt change that much and your right there is a plate the bottom 9 inches or so is the fuel tank! and the upper 5 inches is just a plate that just can be cut it leads to the trunk.

i have a 95 lincoln and i allways kept the factory sub in.... and then one day i took it out and there was a diffrance... as far as runnning with no back seat.... there is gonna be a huge diffreance, and i dont wanna get my hopes up like that!, if 8 out of 10 people say try it i will.

wait.... 10 of the RIGHT people,.....
