got them almost for free and i remember i saw a project using a vifa D26NC55

mine have a very similar mounting flange and i thought about getting it off and doing something similar to what's in the link (to replace what i currently have in the MT's)

only trouble is they seem glued to the flange :

Kind of looks like the flange may be important to hold the thing together though..

I wouldn't remove the flange. Looks like it is there to help dispersion.

i'm not thinking about removing it to reduce size.

if i manage to remove it i'll replace it with a round one (simply for the ease of flush mounting), 1/2 inch thick, rounded over. just like in the pdf file in the first post

Should be able to remove it using a good sharp blade.
