for free I think not.

400 for local isn't too bad. I like to buy local #1 to suport local buisness when they are worth supporting, and if my crap goes bad on me.. well I know whos teeth to loosen.

I see 300 On the net where did you find it for 239 if I may ask, sounds too good almost?

I can seal that deal this week for that price and not think twice(damn I just flowed on accident fing05.gif )

Having a sponsor would be cool, but I really wouldn't want all that hastle. I'm not building to compete in anything at all... but cool for you man, you will go through equipment like crazy if you compete new builds etc.

it all started yrs ago... when i was just learnning how to install i would work for free to help out @ a local shop and after yrs of me helping on the weekends and showing everyone i know where in town to get the best equipment @ rock bottom prices with a warranty, if i need something i get it with a warranty, dosent cost me squatt,

but i dont ask for much !!! so as not to stress a good friendship... if im in trouble like my Kdc-x979 went down i got a new hu Free ! wasent brand new but it was less than a week old and has a full warranty...

if i need wire / rcas / install bay / whatever i just go when there slow and it happens.... its called good Karma :)

In "new" units the Pio 880prs, Alpine 9887, and the Eclipse 7000/7100 all do 2 way active + sub. Personally I'd take the 880 over the other two, again. I do have a predecessor to the Eclipse and have a buddy with a BEP Alpine. I also live in MN, but am pretty much never there...in Detroit (Novi) right now.

Why are you partial to the pio 880 if I may ask?

Just a pioneer kinda guy?

I'm just curious.

L/R EQ is the Pioneer's strong point.

All others only offer L+R EQ capability.

I actualy have been reading up on that unit quite a bit...

It's grown on me quite a bit.

That is my next purchase... Now I just need to find one for that 300 price point. Anyone know of a place that can get it shipped to MN for no more than $333.33???

The G/F wouldn't like me spending 200 even.. I'll have to buy her car something nice now... lol

I think woofersetc has it for 329+ shipping and I have GOT to be able to beat that.

It comes with quite a few features that the alpine is just plain missing... I like the look of the alpine, but the pio is growing on me... I'm convinced.

I wish I didn't have to move crap today.

Thanks for explaining how to work out this active cross over thing to us noobs

You guys rock!

Try to find used... the older Alpine's can be had for under $300 as well, namely the 9835, 9833, 9813 models.

I'm trying to avoid used if at all possible.. but I might go that route.

Also, I probably wasn't clear I tend to drone on.

I have decided on the pio 880. The features quite outweigh the alpine when I did a side by side and called both alpine and pioneer to talk to the "tech team" frankly pioneer was friendlier and more helpful and offered info where as alpine didn't want to waste their time with me on the phone anyway.

And if it comes down to style I like the LCD screen and white LCD from pioneer more. Just the silver color and dual knobs threw me off.

Thank you though Neon.

I bought mine a year ago and had it shipped to mn for $315.

L/R eq indeed along with the best looks of the bunch. Nice and understated.

Just make sure you buy the 880 from a reputable place in case you need to return it for another unit...

YMMV.

Which dealer did you purchase it through or was it old boys club deal? It's fine if it is.

I also wanted to thank you for recomending it to me. I went out and sampled a few pio premiers, and I was actualy impressed. I am not used to the menue/controlls, but I will be.

As for the look, I didn't like it at first but I think it's growing on me. the clasic 2 knobs of Home Hi-Fi.

Reminds me of my aunts old turn table/receiver unit... especialy with the silver color... which I'm not sure I like yet, but for that price with all the features and a built in Mic for Eqing and the other features... I think I'll be super happy for a long time.

Thanks guys!

I hope your all ready in a few months when I come at you with all the 2 way compnent which speaks should I get threads and then the constant tuning and tweeking untill it's just right threads.... etc.

Audio is an adiction and I should be able to qualify for a medical leave so I can just build it all and get it done I think without all that pesky work getting in the way.
