type r recone question

Recommended Posts

hi, i have a 12" type r that needs a recone (burnt vc) and since i can get a new one for almost the same price for a recone kit i figure that i would try to do a hybrid sub with it. but here is my problem. the type r uses a 2 " diameter vc and the basket has an opening for that size vc. so while i was looking around and i could find any sub that had a 2" vc that was worth doing something like this to. so i was wondering if anybody knows any subs that uses 2" vc. and also if anybody could tell me how a type r gets a burnt vc from only 375 watts. i see that tc sounds epic have a 2" diameter vc.

I'd bet money that more power than that was involved...

You probably had the gain set to high and you clipped the shit out of it.

Sending a square wave signal to a sub is a surefire way to fry it.

why would you recone that? throw it away and get something that actually sounds good.
