Front Stage setup

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I got a friend looking to upgrade her factory front stage. She was thinking about these...

These will be powered with a RF 800.4. I'm not sure about this at all. The budget is around what it would cost for the speakers mentioned. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. She listens to a lot of R&B and alternative rock. Just looking for a clean sound up front.

I tried to find the range of frequencies of the onboard crossovers, but was unable. What are they?

Don't think this will work. I believe it's 40-400HP and LP. No real bandpass capability and to low of a crossover point for the tweets. What do you think about the equipment though if we find an appropriate amp to run this?

Since this amp won't work, what would you suggest. I need a 4ch with bandpass capability. Budget? I don't really know (it's not my money) How about some suggestions on the low budget end to begin with. Is there something maybe a bit cheaper in price than the Zed or Sundown that would be good? Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend that Vifa, not for a first installation in particular if you are limited to amplifier crossovers. Stick with a simple paper cone. As for an amp it will really depend on your budget.

I'd go with these tweeters instead http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...products_id=633

Still SEAS drivers, but the metal domes are usually preferred over the fabric on the DIYMA forums.

For mids, take a look at these http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_i...products_id=789

Though, they are 7s so they will probably require modifications to the door, and they are also a bit deep, so they more than likely wont clear your motor w/o spacers. I do recommend spacers regardless if they are needed or not, having the speaker mounted to an MDF ring greatly reduces resonations caused by the driver being mounted directly to a metal door panel.

If I went with that setup of the SEAS drivers, what would be a good amp to run these besides the Sundown. I'm not bashing Sundown, I just want to give my friend some options. I don't think she wants to go any higher in price than the Sundown though. Appreciate it. :drink40:

When the DIYMA forum gets back on its feet (server swap) post a WTB for a Next Audio VRz4.400. I just sold mine for 180+shipping. Very high quality amp, supposedly made by Audison, and I don't doubt that from the quality. It will allow you to run active, has fully active x-overs from 50-5khz hp and lp. Great amp small foot print, 4x82@4ohms.

I assume by the Sundown amp, you mean the SAX 100.4, if thats the case, there are many amps out there that can do what you want for less than 450 bucks...not knocking the quality of the Sundown, as I don't have experience with it, but you have MANY options if that's the price range.

Personally I am textile fan, and if you can the RNX is a big step up from the RLY.
