Sweet more Slayer fans. I have seen them twice in the last few months and they sound awesome in concert. They absolutely have sound quality in concert. They have the full sound spectrum. Just my 2 cents though. OH YEAH AND SLAYER IS AWESOME IN CONCERT Z

holy fart cannon, I hope that was the mic on the camera distorting...

dont know if that was a smart ass reply or not....but usually bass/loud highs distort on camera....

try not to get bent the Sq guys allways posture, about how it sounds !!!

if they ever get to a Slayer concert... they would understand us better

i was really going to type out a big response, but fuck it, lol.

what it boils down to is this, as mentioned by jim, this forum isn't full of braindead bassheads. and to top that off, some, like ///m5, work in a very sophisticated world dealing with harmonics and various other crap i have no clue how to describe or can begin to grasp myself. so when they respond to something, or offer advice, they don't dumb it down, nor take the edge off of it. that's what makes this forum great, there is real knowledge here, not just this sub vs that sub and how many amps you can stuff in a trunk. one just has to be willing to play up to their level as they aren't going to play down to anyones. if you do, you stand to learn a great deal.

i don't mean to offend or call anyone stupid. take this however you want. it's just friendly advice.

pimped...if you ask, don't get upset at the answer. you don't want opinions, don't reach out for them. otherwise, nice little build bro. keep teh pics coming. looks like you learned a lesson....measure twice, adn then measure twice more. vehicle and wood.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

///m5 is a great guy & i allways lisen too his addvise allready sounding way better after dumping the Kcd-x979 & getting the Alpine 9887

i just feel that ( noone in preticullar ) just that the Sq guys come off a lil snobby sometimes . no offence intended

i think the snobby part has a lot to do with the fact that 99% of people that say sound quality don't actually care about it or understand what it is.

those people think sq is just being able to hear the highs with all the bass you can muster. you know, a wall in the back, and sixteen tweeters up front.

actually reproducing the music as it was intended isn't in the equation. <----- have been guilty of this, lol

i dont call my music SQ, i say it "sounds good enough for me"

true, ive never really heard a TRUE SQ setup, which i want to hear one when i find someone local with a true sq setup, but hearing a setup that sounds incredible isnt going to change me liking how bullets and PA mids sound....

now if i did a small SQ sub setup, i wouldnt want all those mids/highs, overpowering the sub stage.

when i have an MT behind me, and my explorer, 4 MTs, i just wanna go crazy with mids/highs since the bass is already straight up SPL bass, not SQ bass.

why waste money on SQ speakers when i have subs that were designed for SPL?

Well if that is the case, perhaps you should listen to Slayer in my truck once as it would make you feel like the stage is right in front of you.

99% isn't a high enough percentage...

VJ I do find it funny that you say if you ever heard an SQ setup it wouldn't change your mind on driver selection, but you never have heard one. Don't short suit yourself before at least exposing yourself. The actual accuracy and sonic differences would blow you away more than 170dB does now. I do realize that there would be no way to satiate your desire for bass in an SQ realm since you could never truly have a front stage keep up, and if you actually did and listened to it at those volumes you would be deaf within minutes anyways so it is moot. What is my point? Just knocking things since you think you know about both sides but have only been exposed to one of them isn't going to help you out in life much. The other side of it of course, is don't assume since someone has a tendency to prefer one side of a scenario like this that they can't help out on the other....some of us have a wee bit of pro audio experience, like in my case I ran a sound board and designed small concert hall pa systems for 5 years.

took the box out to resin inside, glass around the rings for the 6.5s, and paint the sides/top black. reason for painting is becuase i have a sunroof (yes, in the back) and the 2 back windows is like 10" away from the box, and even with 5% tint, when the sun was really bright, you could see the birch a little. i have 16 cans of black paint from walmart laying around, so i figured why paint it, rather than spend more and throw another layer of 5 on the windows, the paint was only 97 cents each lol.

woulda backed out, but dads trailer was blocking the garage :(

i kinda wanted to paint the whole thing, looks kinda cool black lol.

Tip: seal it up with two or three coats of polyurethane (sanding in between coats) and then paint. ;)

was waiting for someone to say that.

my question is, why?

its just to darken it up so you cant see it through the windows. thats all. why seal it up and waste money and time?

no point.

I can't wait to see this fiberglass job :)

It's going to be a beauty...

Just a quick suggestion . I would cut a dado ( groove ) into the top and sides around your "mid enclosure " then when you stretch the fleece , you can staple it in the groove and save yourself an arse load of sanding trying to get that edge smooth :)

and the inside of my windows are going to get their feelings hurt becuase it does? no. i stated above, i only did it to darken it so you dont see the bare wood thru the tint on bright sunny days. you wont see it since its black now. why on EARTH would i waste time and money sealing and sanding before paint??????? its not going to be seen dude. AT ALL. EVER, until i remove the whole setup.

ok.

good idea, but no need to, becuase none of it will be seen....its all getting covered by a trim panel that will completely seal the cabin off. these people hear fail to understand that though....but just wait until its finished....

Trim or no trim, I too recommend the dado. It makes it easier to get a flush solid surface which is helpful whether it is visible or not. Real easy and fast to do as well :)

exactly , just a simple 1/4" wide by maybe a 1/4" deep straight cut. Then stretch your fleece and stapel it in the groove . then when your soaking the fleece , make sure you soak over your staples well . Using this method you are also creating a lip for the resin fleece to bite into as well :)

what would i use to cut such a groove?

A circular saw will work , just set the cut depth to 1/4" :)

If it is easier you can also use a router with a small straight or upspiral bit. It all depends on what is easiest for you to fixture.

one thing that i hate in the kitchen i work at is "why should i make the bottom look nice when we're just going to cover it up"

it's a pride thing. just becauswe it isn't going to be seen doesn't mean it shouldn't look nice.

just seems like a lack of pride or a half assed job to me.
