not really...its like making glass door panels...if the back will never be seen, why paint it to match the front?

same concept. you guys look way too far into things, really.

you have windows on the side, if they aren't painted black i guarantee the unevenness of that spray job will be apparent in direct sunlight. Not to mention you want to show this off so people will be looking even more closely, 5%tint can still be seen through when you're close.

dude you cant "gaurentee" anything. you dont have my car so you dont know what im working with. i think i can handle it

you can barely see thru the 5% now (when the box is in) but when u look close, you can see the color of the wood. i slide a piece of black material there, and looked thru the glass, and you couldnt see it at all.

also, just a thought, but the uneveness of the paint.....might that possibly be becuase i was taking pics AS I WAS PAINTING, therefore its still WET? you guys look that far into things, but dont even consider it was still wet? its a flat even coat now....but thanks for talking crap yet again without knowing everything.

Which is why he's so fun to tweak :D

At least Fryman got the message after a while...I guess we can hope...

nope, no hope.

this seems to be the only forum to give me crap, this and maybe one of the MINI cooper forums. its been said and ill state it again, you SQ guys come across snobby to the SPL guys, just becuase you dont like it.

i see no one commented on my comparison with the back of the door panel....why paint the back of a nice fiberglassed panel, if you're only going to see the front? same concept with this. there will be front and rear trim panels completely sealing off the cabin and the trunk from any gaps to the top or sides of the box, why waste time and money on getting the paint to look nice, when no one, not even me, will see it when finished?

theres no answer to that, becuase theres no point. its all good though, you guys will continue to say what you want.

DIYMA just ignored you, they seemed to have taken the smarter road :)

This has nothing to do with SPL or SQ, but all to do with what makes sense. We understand 100% that you care about loud and even though I personally don't understand it, it doesn't mean we aren't trying to help it. Perhaps if you took comments as constructive instead of defensive the whole relationship would be smoother. Either way you thoroughly amuse me.

As for you comparison, do you make your wiring neat or just stuff it under your carpet? I know even though no one will ever see my wiring it is neat and tidy. That sort of quality in an install puts a smile not only on my face but in my heart.

i make my wiring neat, but thats different. when i take the box out, the paint, neat or not, isnt going to be tangled up. wire will, therefore it benefits to make it neat. i dont need to make my point, becuase you will see the need to make your point as well, so ill just stop the arguing.

jim, theres some on DIYMA that like my log, the others, be that as it may, they ignored me, which is what you need to.

your comparison sucks... there's not a window on the back side of your door panel with 5% tint, try again.

If the pics are from when the box was wet, don't run your mouth about how good it looks now, post a picture.

You're as hard headed as a woman, even when ramos told you to cut the dado groove for you fleece you immediately turned it down "there's no need to" yet you have next to no idea what you're doing while he's completed more projects then you've started. Anyone here that tries to explain that something you're doing is wrong is immediately attacking you.

Let me let you in on a little secret, nobody here is going to lose an ounce of sleep if you completely screw up the build, your car, or your pride. Everyone has initially tried to simply give you advice but you keep insisting that you know what you're doing while your builds show otherwise.

Furthermore, nobody is going to ignore you, it's fun as hell watching you get all pissy because everyone is now being not so gentle when they see you screwing stuff up.

How about this , it actually makes the bond between the substrate and fleece stronger due to the increased surface area for the bond :)

how about nobody was calling me names, yet i've gotta be an ethug. even though these people are trying to help me and just being flat brutal about it, i can't seem to grow up jsut a wee bit and accept there are those that know more about this stuff then i do. so, like fryman, i will take a break, courtesy of mrray13, and maybe when i get back i will somewhat understand the the point these people are making.

that point? take pride in what i do, listen to those who have been there and done that and maybe when they offer advice, they won't talk down to me.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

Upon further reflection, I apologize for being so rude. I got emotional and let that take over me. What I would've said if I had it to do over again is, that you guys don't seem to be helping him, just trying to aggravate him. I am enjoying this thread and wish to see more. From an outside view though it appears that some of the people are bashing this guy. Reading through it for the first time I thought that you guys hate this dude and he's done something wrong to you. Anyway sorry again for going of my rocker, and on with more pics. Please.

Perhaps I misunderstood? Are you guys joking with him?

The condescending tone in some of those posts is not just from this thread, but repeated threads where he has made bad decisions in projects and clearly demonstrated that he was getting bad information from somewhere. Yet, he refuses any attempt to learn or even consider alternative viewpoints on how something could be done.

I love helping people that want to learn, but I have no patience or sympathy for people that are too stubborn to see what they're doing wrong, or too arrogant to admit it...

Thanks for that, we try to keep a really laid back atmosphere here.
