Welcome to SSA. Polk and Pioneer are both decent brands, but there are plenty out there that offer more performance per dollar.

The pio 720prs is a nice set, but otherwise I don't like anything else in particular from Polk or Pio.

At this point i am pretty open to suggestions. A local shop is getting ready to carry Boston, but I never really hear many people say anything about those. Other than that, another shop sells Kicker and RE in town. They carry diamond comps, RE XXX comps, the Kicker comps, etc. I will check out there stuff as well.

Polk SR's are very, very nice for a passive set.

The rest of them, eh.

in my opinion having owned brands such as mtx 8500's and 9500's kicker l7's comp cvr's rockford p2's it all depends on what you are looking for and if your the type of person that may get dissatisfied with your setup from my history of wasting thousands of dollars i recomend this start with the amp buy the biggest amp you can afford dont ever think its to big cuse you can always turn the gains down......now as far as speakers go for the price efficient (low budget) get a pair of p3 for the price( usually 250 a pair of 12's) they get loud as for top quality more money my picks are fi, dd, tc....and in that order... i do not recomend buying the expensive stuff like jl, mtx and rf.......as far as the re xxx i like them but not for the price..... and the loudest ive seen them do is for a 12.....142 on the term lab with a dd z1 amp.....and it was making funny noises after that run......there is a guy here with a 10 fi bl that does 142 off a t2001bd.....so the choice is yours i myself have sold my 2 10 inck mtx 9500's so i caould ourchase a 12 inch loaded btl......cant wait..

I think you're replying to the wrong thread...

But the fact you don't include DD in the "expensive stuff" list is funny, especially when they have products that are more expensive than JL, MTX or Rockford :)

Back to the thread at hand...

not to keep thing off track but TCs prices are up there now!

but i was impressed with some of the Kicker Comp sets i have heard...

I heard a nice set of polks a while back but don't know the model and whatnot....so thats no help

what kind of budget are you on? if i had the money, i'd get the RE XXX comps!

i'd even suggest some JL Audio XR sets....a little on the spendy side but i love mine(still wish i would have paid less for them)

the kicker comps I have heard rip your head off...

Rip your head off??? In a good way or bad way? Budget wise, I am lookin at most spending around $600-700 a set. As for the rear of the vehicle, do I just replace the factory (i think 6x9's) with just a much better set or should I switch this out also for a comp set. Back on comp sets, I am kinda eyeing and checkin out Rainbow Germaniums. R these good? They seem stout and I know I like silk dome tweeters.

Sub wise, right now I am throwing tons of ideas around in my head. I listen to everything from rap and heavy metal to, dont laugh, opera so I am debating pretty much everything. My girl has a sealed enclosure that sounds good, considerin it is P2's. So, needless to say, I am debatin 2 10" BL's ported, 3 10" Q's sealed, or 2 12" Q's in an IB setup. I want to kep room for storage, so with these setups I can keep room. I think IB's are sexy lookin, esp if you do it nicely with some plexiglass and neons. 3 10's sealed would look sleek....and the 2 10's would just pound. So, I am open to any idea on this one, lol. Keep changing my mind on these. An IB would also be a lot lighter which is good considering it is going in a muscle car meant for speed.

In a bad way.

What sort of muscle car? Where are you going to mount the drivers? Does the $600-700 include money for deadening? Are you doing the installation yourself?

Also, your debating some extremely different alignments for the low end. Is there a reason that you are looking at nearly an output only to the opposite?

No, that money does not include deadening. I have tons of that left over from my girls explorer...overshot by about 260sq ft, lol. It is a suped up charger. Right now pushin little over 600 horses. I will be doin most of the deadener myself, but will probably have a shop do the actual driver installs.

I debate so many setups cause I am still tryin to figure out what will be best for me and what I listen to. I love loud bass but would also like it to be clean as well. Reason I looked at the IB is cause I was told it can sound amazing if done correctly also saving tons of space in the back. I saw one setup I wish i could have heard, it was 2 15's and barely touched takin up room in the trunk.

Loud bass and IB aren't really something that go hand in hand intrinsically, but with enough cone area could.

We would love pics of the charger. ;) And of course, any other details on the car you want to share.

Have you nailed down or contemplated driver locations? Considering it is such a cool car have you thought about taking it up a step and going active with your installation?

I would like to go active, but I have no clue how to do any of that, if the shop could do it for me, I would love to. Here there are lots of benifits from going active.

A shop cannot do it for you, it will require adjustments that could last months. Luckily they can be done with the headunit but if you don't want to tinker it won't be for you. The biggest benefit is independent driver selection, you can pick the tweet and mid/midbass that you want and run with it and not be limited to the compromises that manufacturers make for component sets.

So all adjustments are made with the head unit? I am getting ready to pick up a new headunit soon, Kenwood DVD touchscreen, the 7000 series one. I might be able to handle that, I am just worried of physically setting something up wrong and setting frequencies....dont wanna destroy stuff. If you have a link or something that I can read up on how to do all this, I would love to do it.

Not with that headunit regrettably you have to buy one that would be active crossover compatible.

Is there a nice dvd touchscreen that has active crossover capabilities.

This stuff is going in a 08 charger SRT.

I also have a '69 charger that I am debatin puttin a very small system in, but that comes later as well as hookin up my Dad's 07 sublime Charger Daytona. As you can see, we are charger fanatics. Soon as all the systems are installed, I will be workin on restorin a 72 charger that my grandfather picked up at a junkyard in NC.

Not without adding an external processor like the Alpine H701, which will cost you around $400.

I am actually searching for 6.1 swaps into 68-70 Chargers in the hunt to build a pro touring machine, also something a bit more affordable than XV engineering chassis stuff would be a welcome surprise. Any insight into that realm of Chargers I'd love to hear.

LOL, I will have to ask my father about that one. I am more of the "creative" thinker and he is the more automotive one. I think I will just stay with my touchscreen dvd player and add an external crossover. I would really enjoy the sleek look of a touchscreen and also think a crossover would look pretty nice as well.
