I dunno yet. The battery in my saw died halfway through cutting out one opening for the terminal cups (I used one set of binding posts per coil so I don't have to take the sub out if I need to rewire for a different amp) and the other one was already dead and I somehow managed to leave the charger at my parents. I'll be there tomorrow so by tomorrow night I'll be powered up.

Awesome. A very fine choice. Hopefully you like it :)

Box and amp rack (that I built in about 2 minutes) to be covered in something eventually. The wires will be all prettied up too. I have to make new speaker wires, I cut those a tad too short :(

New amp: JBL Powervalve BP1200.1 I tested it for ~1450wrms @ 14.4v

A lil excursion. Best excursion pic I could get. Never could time it right. It has WAY more travle than this. I made a vid of the excursion, but the framerate on my digital camera is too low to capture it properly.

OK OK OK!

Well, so far I like it. Not love, like. Let me explain...

It is seriously loud. Louder than my previous 4 12s with 2kw (total, 500w each). But the SQ is not up to par with what I was expecting for all the hype. But I'm almost positive that's because I haven't adjusted my eq yet, or the settings on the amp. When I put on the new battery terminal for the 0ga cable all my eq settings in my HU (Pioneer avh-p6400cd indash) got reset and I only spent about a minute trying to get them set back right because it started raining right after I got everything thrown in the back of the truck. Once I get all that set up correctly I will post a real review.

Awesome - sounds like a pretty decent inital reaction.

Hopefully some time @ the EQ will help the SQ along to where you think it should be.

Well, I hate to admit this, but I solved the SQ problem. And I also solved what turned out to be a lack in output.

I decided to check everything out with the multimeter. I was getting a solid 63VAC from the amp (translates into just a tad over 1400wrms w/out clipping or distortion). So next I disconnected the speaker leads from the amp and tested them on the ohmmeter to see if I had a bad coil. Well, the first one tested to 4.1 OHM so that one is good. Test the other one and my heart hit the floor. No Load. Please oh please oh please oh please oh please tell me it just came disconnected inside the box.

So I go through the trouble of taking out that 65lb sub (even managed to not crush my fingers) and lo and behold! One of the connectors is broken! Thank God. Now I just hope I didn't mess up the sub by running 700w through one coil and nothing through the other. So I make me some new connectors (the wires are NOT going ANYWHERE now) and get eveything back together (crushed a pinkie this time) and hold my breath as I crank the truck up again.

BOOM BOOM BOOM swwet beautiful music trying to remove my eyeballs from their sockets.

Now that I've overcame my stupidity, I can give you a real review...

The fact that I thought it was loud when only 1 coil was hooked up should go to show just how loud the thing is now. I still haven't gotten to play with my EQ settings, but it sounds beautiful now. Sounds very tight on higher notes, and really QUAKES on the low notes. Overall I am seriously very very impressed with this sub, and give it an A+++++ Well worth what I paid for it. Now I just need to do the Big 3 so my truck will stop trying to shut off every time the bass drops. I will post more once I get to really fine tune my EQ and check out the transient response and stuff. I couldn't find my Drama - Right, Left cd... :(

I got to check out the transient response today. It wasn't quite perfect, but it did quite well for being in a ported box. I don't listen to much music that has rapid changes in frequency like that though, so it won't much matter.

SO the sub rocks. The amp rocks. I'm happy. The end. :)

Nice work

Glad you found the problem and fixed it. Sounds like you're really quite happy now.
