NOOB Question

Is it possible for me to run my back door speakers directly off the head unit if I'm already using the rear RCAs for my front stage? I know some people don't like the rear speaker thing, but I have people in my truck all the time, plus I like it that way.

if you're already using the rear RCA's for the front (hopefully your running active and didn't just ghetto the system together).. than the settings for the rear outputs apply to both the internal amp and the preout. So you could, but whatever settings you have set now for the preout apply to the amp itself.

Some headunits have either or and some have both, easy to find out though.

You cannot use the front RCA's and hard wire the rear speakers on my Alpine unit (at least I wasn't able to). If you use the Front RCA's then you must use the Rear RCA's as well (if your using rear speakers). I was hoping to use my old school RF amp elsewhere, but I guess it's staying. Maybe I'll reconsider just dropping the rears. We'll see.

True, the rears are mostly for my passengers.

I also tried using the sub-out RCA's on my Minilith's and found out that I get more output using Zed's scheme( using the front and rear RCA's). I split my sub-out connection to utilize the 4 RCA connects (4db loss for everyone that isn't used) and I think I ended up with half the power as before. Anyway, things are back to normal again.

After all this, I'm noticing that I'm getting a static-like sound when the volume is up. When I'm getting into regular listening levels, you don't hear it, but the sound was not around before I moved things around. The noise isn't a whine or alt noise. It just sounds a bit dirty, kinda like an old record might sound. What do you guys think?

That's what you get with very low dynamic range...you're hearing the head unit amp.

(it also sounds like you need to clean your records )

Something about those old dirty records brings back some memories, but yeaj they do need a good cleanin'.
