considering switching to SD Amps

Recommended Posts

I compete on a regular basis, and was running the Massive Audio p3000.1 @ 2.3ohm to a single SoundStream T4 15" ---

when the amp went into Protection ( coma ) and did not recover, so i sent it into the factory to check it out ! they said it blew a Cap and it wasent covered under the warranty, so they charge me to replace the board, and charged me for the return shipping....

the box arrives @ my office crushed---- so i called them right then... there responce was its a tough amp go ahead and install it anyway, i protested... but they insisted... so i install it and go to work, that night i go to dinner with my girl friend ! she noticed it in the back and asked me to turn it on... we hear a Poping then Hissssssssssssssssssssssss & the Explorer was filled with Smoke as im going 40mph down Greenville Ave... i pull over and pull the quick disconnect....

now the amp is on its way back to MASSIVE AUDIO on my dime

here are pics of the box as it arrived from Massive Audio with no packing to protect it...

I'd try and collect shipping insurance from MA and just take the money and buy the Sundowns, not worth even sending it back in. Especially since the peckers told you to connect a damaged beast anyways.

Full power testing on the 1500D is sticky @ the top -- for regular voltage and 16+ volt systems. Check those posts out.

If you are a consumer than you need to contact a dealer for pricing, Aaron @ SSA would be a good one to try :)

If you are an SPL competitor with a verifiable history and solid plans for the season then you may be qualified to buy from me directly. If you feel that you may be qualified contact me at [email protected] and we can talk.

I generally just swap out a new amp for warranty :) I'm sure someone around here can vouch for that for me. I don't have alot of warranty work to begin with, though, but in general I send a new unit and I worry about fixing the old one and re-selling it as refurbished.

*edit Jacob beat me to it

Here is a link to some real world teting of a SAZ-1500D

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7116

MSRP on the SAZ-1500D is $599 but its up to the dealer what they charge. I would contact your local dealer or rep for pricing. If you do not have a dealer or rep in your area contact the ssa store for pricing. Also Jacob has a selection of used, refurbs and b-stocks for sale. (check the stickies at the top of this forum)

Not to get way of topic but which would you rather have?

Two of these (basicly what your p3000.1 is, pair of p1500.1 internaly strapped)

Our two of these

Im sure you would be happy with your switch to sundown, not just because the difference in build quality but the customer servies alone.
