Got Metered in the Magnum

Recommended Posts

So.....I just installed the 4 Q15's in a sealed enclosure (8.6ft^3 after displacement) running on a IA 40.1.

The car is a '07 Dodge Magnum, a 140amp Alt, and a 2nd NSB90 Battery. The meter was an AC, but it was recently calibrated and actually metering about 3 db lower then the other one I was previously metered on...(not that that reallly means anything) anyways, I hit 163.5db outlaw and 162.1db legal. I am competing tomorrow on another AC, and I'll let you know how I score there. :drink40:

I've heard, but never have had a car this loud before, and there are only 3 cars that I know of that have broken 160 in Miami, so that's pretty cool. Other then that, I only hear loud cars at Daytona for SBN. Funny thing is that I am almost afraid to turn it up. I still need to tweak it too. The amp has gone into protect mode a few time while I was messing with the gain with the volume up, but I know the basic area where the cutoff point is. We are taking a DMM to it to get it tuned.

Oh yeah, both those scores were @ 37hz!!!!

He's using an audiocontrol mic..

They measure significantly louder than the TL. Not as accurate too.

Yes, I know I would score lower on a TL. That is why I specified that I was using an AC mic. With my previous setups, I usually hit ~5db lower on the TL. I have no reason to make anything up. That's what I am hitting.

The box is 39"W x 19.5"H x 25"D sealed. With 2x4 braces. Go ahead and build it yourself...

I'll try to get a shot of the meter reading when I compete later today. It's on a different mic, but still an AC.

I'll get you pics from the show too.

hmm is that 19.5 still inder the window line. and the 25 deep do u still have room if u wanted to throw a little bit of luggage back there or 25 deep is the total from back of the seats to the hatch(if u know kjnow the max depth from back of he seats to the hatch let me know

..reason im asking cuz im heavily thinking about buying a magnum

and want to do 2 18's ported

but good score on ac and on tl...i bet u sound really good doing those numbers as well

ahhh just let us know what it hits on a termlab. still REALLY impressive. the only concern I have is audiocontrols even calibrated sometimes have problems. the shop by us a guy that normally does a 147 on a lab did a 161 on one the bad audio controls. not saying yours is nor trying to scare you. Heck even if it isn't a termlab. get it on another meter

OK, I don't know how accurate the meter was lastnight. Today, I hit 156.1 legal and 158.0 outlaw. But all of the cross bracing on my roof is broken, so now the roof flexes like crazy.

I did get some video. If I can figure out how to convert it, I'll get it posted for you.

16" or 17" I think. That will keep it lower then the back seat too. You can't really see thru the tint anyways.

I'll measure tomorrow for you.
