what does a 18" bl recone cost?

Recommended Posts

in case my subs dont sell, im wondering what a recone costs.

the purpose of reconing 1 month old subs is simple...trying to make them dual 2 ohm instead of dual 1 ohm and want to see if it would be cheaper to buy the kits instead of selling my bl's and rebuying another set thats dual 2 ohms.

two zip codes 91941 and 91730. if i could get a quote on a 18" dual 2 ohm bl recone kit i would appreciate it. oh btw, you can recone to a dual 2 from a dual 1 right? they dont have different dimension that wont fit do they?

$95 each plus shipping for the flatwind setup (which I believe yours are). As for reconing from a D1 to a D2, it depends on if you have the universal setup. There isnt much of a difference on the BLs either way and I do have a D2 that would fit in the D1 gap regardless. Shipping would be $13 for the pair to either zip.

Thanks,

Scott

i appreciate the response. got 2 more questions:

1) the only options i have on my BL's is the cooling option. i dont have the flatwind option or the universal or anything else. what is the price difference between them?

2) also i see you said there isnt much difference on the BL's either way and you have a d2 that would fit in the d1 gap regardless. i have a question...is the d2 recone your talking about, a standard BL recone? or is it just a random dual 2 ohm recone that will work with the bl assembly?

thanks Scott

I'll try and answer. If I'm wrong anyone can feel free to correct me.

1. I cant answer about price differences but you asked about the universal option. IIRC that strictly has to do with the motor. Not the recone.

2. Yes, I believe it is the standard BL recone.

well what i meant in the first question is that i have no other options on these bl's. when i bought them i selected cooling and thats it. so thats why i was wondering what the difference in price was between the flatwind coil recone which scott posted, and the regular coil recone which is what im looking for.

as far as question 2: ok cool. so why exactly did it seem like scott was suggesting that the regular recone might not fit? i might be wrong im just saying thats how i interpreted the post.

What you need to work is what Scott quoted you a price for....

he said $95 for the flatwind setup. i dont have the flatwind setup.

then he said he has one that will fit regardless of the gap, but didnt state a price for that one.

not sure im fully grasping what needs to be done. are you saying i need to get the flatwind one to make it fit in a d1 gap? i understood his post as

1) " recones with the flatwind coil are $95. im assuming you have one so im giving you this quote"

and

2) "however, i have one without the flatwind option that will work with your current setup" but no price.

since the flatwind option adds $20, im assuming a non flatwind recone will be $95 - 20 = $75 ?

We've got a dual 2 flatwire that will fit that gap....so it'd be $95

Same basic coil, just a little different...

Thanks

ahhh ok. so the flatwound coil IS a necessity to fit in the d1 gap.

might have to rethink what im going to do. thanks
