Box for Blowthrough

Recommended Posts

I am pretty serious about doing a blowthrough to my F-150 in the next few months. I am pretty settled on 2 18"s on 4000 watts (will be more with upgrades in the future.)

I was thinking of a 4th order bandpass box for them but I want to be loud on low hertz (like around 30-35). How can I accomplish this? Also, what would be better: 2 18" or 4 15" all on 4000 watts? Like I said, I want to be loud but hit low.

Curious, is this an actual blowthrough or are you gonna put a camper shell on it and make a wall. I am curious cause that was something I was also lookin at doing but never got around to.

I would do a straight blow through! I've done about 5 of these over the years (2 bandpass, 3 straight port-throughs), and it seems to retain SQ while still being stupid loud, just having them face in the cab is the best route.

Now, of course you'll have to cut the entire back wall of the truck out, but thats a small price to pay for the sheer shock value anyone's gonna get the first time you fold the seat up, lol

You'll be deff short of port area while doing this if you're going with 4 15's, and you'll have to measure to even see if you have the hieght available for 2 18's. If you go with 4 15's you'll be short on port surface area, but you'll make up on box cubic footage. There's alot of limitations to how many woofers you can put in there by doing this method, but once you choose what your going with sub wise, moving forward isn't to hard. I personally would go with 4 15's out fo the height factor and the cone area factor, then design your port area accordinly. This set up will be very low i'm sure, it will probably allmost hurt someone. lol Hope this rant helped some, GL, keep us posted!

Also, what subs are you planning on running?

That was exactly what I was initially planning until I got a car. I was gonna do 4 15's in a ported PacMan enclosure.

I've done a pacman box with 6 12's before in a port-through, still would take the direct port-through over that...
